Yup when he came back from US Football stint, after boxing, powerlifting before sumo, k1, wrestling lol.

Think he had a stint at rugby with harbour too.

LOL - only took 9 years from my first NZSM comp! :-D That said my Overall title in Bodybuilding took 16 years from first comp LOL. Never quite got a National title in PLing but got a few regionals after a few years. Got a premiership in League in first season, maybe should have stuck with team sports where I could bludge off other peoples talents! *lol*

Highlights for me over the years of NZSM are:

Steve Lynch turning up to NZSM in mid 1990's and being in phenominal shape, as a kid I was amazed, but even now I recognise him as one of the few bodybuilders who had the balls to compete (I'll include Darren Farrow & myself there too!).

Nick McNamee winning 7 of 8 events in 2000 at an athletic looking 150kg. Insane.

Dave Dunford pulling 470kg partial Deadlift as a U100 & at the same comp Matt Rossiter going 500kg in HW's. Mindblowing.

Paul Kingi & Colin Cox going toe to toe in Napier, with events like car walk, stone pressing etc. Around that time even a car flip was on the timetable (dangerous much!)

Watching my training partner Nick Hansen get the threepeat in 2011.

Seeing Nick McNamee & Matt Rossiter battling head to head for Log Press supremacy in the early 2000's. And seeing my old training partner Sam Magele set a new record recently.

Seeing Shannon Barwood win NZSM as a very young man (19 or so).

Lots of cool old footage around, will see what I can dig up.

I remember watching him compete, I was in the crowd somewhere....at about 70kg!

He told me he competed in a NPC bodybuilding show as well.  Won overall title in his first show lol.
