Brett Pulled 300 at the CDPA Champs in April, it was the first time he had pulled 300 in a comp. Like Phedder said at the commonwealths he was securing the win and the record, I was looking after both that day Brett and Jamie, the 285 was to bank the record he could have got a bit more, but why miss the record for the ego.  

He has had a few shots at 300 in comps but came up short, he had pulled 300 in The House about 3-5 times maybe more there are vids of the last few weeks where he was doing 300 302.5 respectively.  The earlier 300s were done when he was fresh, in a comp you are fatigued thats why you miss the gym lifts at a comp.  We started to work on doing them when he was fatigued before the CD Champs, leading into the worlds he was doing his 3 main lifts in one session thats where he started hitting the 300s consistently the last session he was going for 310 but we stopped at 280 he was just feeling a bit tight that was 2 weeks out.

Here is a vid 3 weeks out his lifts were Squat 280 @ 2.29 mins,  missed his Bench that day but it was 180 he did 182.5 the week before and 302.5 Dead @ 4.35

He logs on PH. It's nothing complicated at all, I don't even think he has a program or anything written down. Just goes heavy arse reps without a belt for a few months. Then chucks on a belt goes heavier for reps then pulls back to triples and singles a few weeks out. Deloads then BOOM magic happens.

whats the point of deloading?

Going in fresh, no DOMs, muscles full of glycogen, CNS in good shape....

Some only do pre-comp week off but you can build in a partial deload every 3-5 weeks if going balls to the wall.

Like Nate said most here deload every 4-5 weeks especially with a heavy 12 cycle into a comp, it shows by numbers on the platform, 2 good deloads and PBs happen, get it wrong just another wasted 3 months and a average comp.
