New Cholesterol results.

Last year my blood test showed these results:

Cholesterol total- 9.4

Triglycerides- 1.8

HDL- 1.66

LDL- 6.9

Cholesterol hdl ratio- 5.7

Recent Results:

Total- 5.6

Triglycerides- 1.5

HDL- 1.4

LDL- 3.5

chol hdl ratio- 3.9

These are still high but much better.

Anyone know why my HDL would go down? and how can i raise it?

Cheers.

Assuming you dont use AAS (which can push HDL down) it's probably diet related. What have you changed? If you've stripped all fats out in order to lose weight/drop cholestrol this could explain it. By adding certain types of fats/oils you can influence your HDL & LDL levels. Polyunsaturates & Monounsaturates can decrease LDL, and from memory one of them can increase HDL - I'll let you do the research though as I can't recall details.

When adding these lipids just dont go over board as extra calories equal weight gain which tends to go hand in hand with increased cholestrol. Conventional medicine would say displace saturated fats for these oils, though its a highly contentious area!

seems by my calculations that your cholesterol:hdl ratio is 4.0 not 3.9. Didnt know people e-stat'd cholestrol readings until now

e-stat'd?

e-statting means altering true statistics/values on the internet (electronic shit = e) so that they make you appear better than you are IRL. Obviously you cant make up some stuff to people IRL but you can on the internet where no one knows if youre lying or not.

For example i could write in my workout journal that i benched 150kg for 10 reps when i actually cant do that and while some ppl might be suspicious no one on here would really know if it was true or not. I could also lie and say im 8% bodyfat when im obviously higher if you saw me IRL yet if i dont post a pic you wont know its a lie.

The first results i copied from a physical copy of my results.

The second the nurse told me them over the phone which i wrote down.

I dont think i would have heard 4 as 3.9.

But thanks for that, im going to ring them back and ask them.

i doubt it matters. just 5.6/1.4 = 4.0 not 3.9. not different enough to worry about i would guess

Walnuts are good for lowering cholesterol levels, watched a documentary on people working in a processing factory and after 8 weeks all the workers levels had dropped significantly. Hope that helps bro
