What do i do first?

Recommended Posts

Its been a while since i have been on here. I am making a cmmitment though to do my first comp next year.

What do i do first, strip fat in over 3-6 months & build for 6 months or do i just cruise with the fat loss?

I need to lose about 20kg to get to stage weight so that will put me round 90kg. I will be in masters and am 5'11".

any comments appreciated

I'd suggest hiring a coach for your first show to be honest, but if you don't want to do that, start off by posting photos of you hitting the mandatory poses in honest lighting for a better assessment of what to do. Given that you plan to get on stage at 90kg and 5'11" you obviously have a lot of development.

EDIT: At that weight and height at stage levels of bodyfat you have a FFMI of 26.5. If you're natural you're dreaming, if you're not, start researching what drugs to go on to cut for a show.

Agreed. When it comes to your first competition, this forum (excellent though it is!) is no substitute for an experienced, face-to-face trainer.

If you're currently 20kg over what you think your competition weight will be, I would suggest doing a cut down to about 10% now. That's pretty lean, so it'll show you what's hiding underneath those 20kg. Then you've got a better idea of what you need to work on. There's also a good chance you'll need to reassess your 90kg estimate.

Welcome back, BTW!

Cheers for the advice. I have got a trainer now so am cruising along on a fat loss journey for a while with the aim of building a bit of mass as i go. Its going to be a mission that will bring great results :-)

Just need to tweak the diet a bit more & train hard. Stoked with first 2 weeks though. Trainer worth every penny spent.
