Strange question

Hey guys,

Right here's the deal. Lately at the gym I get to a point where I start dry retching.

It usally happens half way through a good set, which really enoys me because I have to stop and rest for a few minutes.

After that I usally come right for the rest of my workout. But this has only just started happening.

I've recently started bulking and I'm on about my 5th week. I've also recently started creatine.

I talked to a guy at the gym and he rekons it's because iv uped my food intake so much.

Anyway any opinions on this? Or has it happened to anyone else?

Also do you think it has anything to do with my food intake increase or creatine.

Cheers

I've been working out about 6 years and this the 1st time it's happened.

Its also the 1st time I've bulked so I've uped my cals 600 above maintenance. Have been doing that for about 5weeks now.

I get home from work and have a decent feed or a shake then go gym. So I guess I only give myself 30 minutes for it to settle.

Don't take pre workout I just have a v or other type of energy drink before I go in

For example yesterday I got home and I had pork chops, potatoes and kumera chips. It only seems to occur ona really iintense and heavy set. Usally on a main compound exercise like squats and bench press. Have had it happen doing dips with weight straped onto me too, also doing lunges and leg extensions.

If I'm having a shake before workout I have whole milk powder, milo, banana, egg, oats with water in the blender

I usally have one bottle of v. Haven't got a bottle around me at the moment so unsure how much caffeine is in one

If the only thing you have changed is your diet then the likely answer is the change in your diet....

Do you always/usually have the V (even before "bulking") or is it a new thing too?

Try not having the shake before the gym for one day and see if it helps - schedule those calories into another time (straight after workout) or another meal for that day (or just spread them into larger servings of your other meals) or just skip those calories on that day - one day wont hurt.

Thanks for all the replys.

I've alnost always had an energy drunk before the gym. I work quite a physical job so at the end end of the day I'm usally quite nakard so it helps to get me going. Not a big fan of pre workout drinks like curse etc. The tingly skin enoys me and they make me feel funny. Feel like I can go just as hard without it.

Also I'm usally quite hungry after work, and after works really the only time I can go down to the gym.

But today I'll give it a go not eating before the gym and I'll see what happens. I think I'll still have an energy drink though . So if it happens today I'll try tomorrow with no food or energy drink

You train naked? :o

Sorry, couldn't help myself. You mean "knackered". The word comes from "knacker", which was the bloke who turned tired old farm horses into dog meat. Thus if you are knackered, you are past your prime and headed for the knacker's yard. It's an excellent word.

Didn't eat for 2 hours before gym today and what do you know.

No gag yay. For the first time in weeks.

Awesome! Another happy customer. :)

Not being able to eat before exercise and dry reaching, possibly might have a stomach ulcer. I had one and didn't really feel any noticeable pain but would dry reach when doing exercise, drinking, eating lots of protein, or having a cigarette. You could try Gaviscon or Mylanta from the Chemist, and if that doesn't work GP's have some good meds. If it is an ulcer it will take a while to come right.

Probably your mix of food/protein with energy drink then straight into the gym bro,use to work long hours in the mines, would eat after work, take pre workout an head to gym. Would feel like crap if I ate first, keep burping and nauseous
