My routine, opinions?

Have been lifting for around just over 6 months now, my current routine is somewhat of a pyramid scheme, which tbh I mainly stuck with because it was what I was shown by my partner when I started, and I really like sticking to what I know. It goes a little something like this,

Starting from 12 reps I increase the weight with each set and drop 2 reps, so it might look like this (depending on how exhausted my muscles get etc);

Bench press:

12x40KG

10x50KG

8x60KG

6x70KG

4/5x80KG

failurex90KG (usually 1)

Then I would usually proceed to repeat this with different excercises, ie dumbbell press, incline chest press, incline dumbbell chest press etc.

I've been doing a wee bit of research and I'm thinking of expanding into a moderate weight/high rep programme (12-15), with a more calculated number of sets/reps (at the moment, i tend to just keep going until I can't lift a cup).

So my question is this, would it be at all beneficial to run a routine which switches between these two styles weekly? e.g 1 week pyramid, 1 week high-rep, etc.

Any thoughts or opinions on this?

P.s as I said, im relatively new to this... So please don't shoot me down if I'm way off the mark here *help*
