Worthwhile competing for figure comp or am i dreaming?

Recommended Posts

Plenty of potential there IMO. Upper body looks lean enough already, great abdominal development! Glutes could do with a bit of tightening up though, nothing a few squats can't fix

Abs great but not much else... Muscular developement needed on upper and lower body, If your serious about a competition, then get yourself a good personal trainer with plenty of client competition experience and start posing classes..

Agree, abdominals are a very small part of figure.

With figure you need a reasonable amount of muscle mass inparticular delts, back and legs with good conditioning IMO.

Nothing that isn't achievable if its your goal though, will take sometime though.

Thanks guys Smile I have been doing squats and deadlifts but clearly not enough then!I'll have a chat to the personal trainers at my gym and see who is up for it but a lot of them are young and dont have loads of experience

You need to get yourself a good one with many years of experience with body-building clients.. If you are serious about a podium position.. I can highly recommend one of our forum sponsers who took my GF to a NZ National title in only one year..

Having a coach is very help to have which can be very helpful to have. When you have any questions about training ,diet etc...From what I make of your photos you have got potinal to compete.pick show to do.also I would suggest have a look at the website for the four major feds hear in NZ like,NABBA/WFF,NZIFBB, INBA,NABBA as well to to see what the rules are etc.In your first year competing it is lots of fun like learing what works and what dosen't

You could probably compete today and be leaner (and more muscular) than most first timers in a novice category. It just depends who happens to be there for that competition but you wouldnt be out of place at all even now.

Obviously everyones physique can be improved but it depends why you are competing and if you just want to do it.

In my opinion if you think saying "i'm goign to competeing at x date" is going to drastically compromise other areas of your life that you enjoy or that matter to you - then dont do it. Instead slowly working out how to fit training and nutrition into a busy schedule might be easier. Saying that there are a lot of shows in september time and as you are quite lean you might not even have to do much of a diet to lose fat into the show - just slowly working in the nutrition and training to build muscle could improve your physique to compete. Leanness obviously isnt a problem for you so the main work would be on nutrition and lifting well and heavy to gain muscle which is always harder for women (unless drugs).

You dont need hours and hours at the gym to do this in my opinion. 3-4 good weights sessions a  week (which is an area to work on - quality of training) and other than that working on your schedule to get your nutrition and calories down is the main thing.

It totally depends what that compromise involves of course, but for a lot of people, setting a date (and telling other people) gives them a deadline to work towards - and the motivation and resulting progress is kicked up a gear.

Definitely agree with Dinah on the workload though. What you're doing at the moment, lifting 4 days a week, is fine. Smarter, not harder. :)

take a ml of test weekly leading into the show.

Ignore that idiot, if your serious about a podium position you may have to consider some drug use

10mg/day anavar bulking phase for 3-6 months... Increase calories & protein.

When in calorie defecit pre-contest cut, increase anavar as needed 15mg-20mg maybe even 30mg in the last few weeks to hold on to as much muscle mass as possible, with Clenbuterol 40mcg X2/day and/or T-3 25mcg/day,increase if needed..  for fat loss...!!!

If you do compete this year just class it a learning curve.I will share a few things that I learnt in my first year which are not to go overborad in cardio  and lost some muscle mass by doing that. Not to carb up on the week of the show which dose not work for us Kiwis when it works well for people like Jay Cuttler,Phil Heath Kai Greene etc and having veggies in my diet when I start cutting so my gutts wont get blocked up.One thing that I would suggest is when you do your first comp after the show speek to the head judge by asking for some feedback on areas that you need to work on.

Thanks Smile im goin to see if i can locate someone in hawkes bay that may be able to help me. Any recommendations?

The only two people in the Hawkes bay area that I can think of would be Andrew Murray and Aron Nobel those are the only two people that I can think of.
