Train traps and forearms directly?

^^^agree. I just add barbell/db shrugs to my back routine, and I do upright rows when hitting shoulder.

When training arms I do reverse barbell curls and hammer curls to mix things up a bit,but i personally dont think having half a gym session to hit forearms is necessary, they get hit with alot of compound exercises.

Funny when you see peeps doing forearm exercises with 3kg dbs, just after doing db rows etc, i think what is the point???

All types of cleans, deadlifts, barbell rows will build the traps just as well as shrugs or upright rows and they also have lots of crossover strength to other exercises. Shrugs are such an over rated exercise IMO. The traps are a very big back muscle not just around your neck like everyone who watches WWE wrestling thinks they are. It's not like a bicep muscle where it requires direct work such as silly shrugs or upright cable rows to get the best results.

as for training forearms directly... No, just no. Those first 3 types of exercises I mentioned, variations of those is fine for your forearms... When someone looses a bodybuilding comp on their forearms I will change my mind.

Wolffenbuttel - The goal is to get big :D

Everyone else - Thanks for the input guys, really appreciate it. I think im still going to do some forearm exercises because I would love some big ass forearms, I love to look at my forearms and flex them even though they arent that big haha.

Lol what's point of asking a question if the answer to it isn't going to have any influence.

please don't waste our time.

As I always say the advice I get here is really helpful and unlike you say it does have a big influence and plus I was also wanting to know whether people train their traps and forearms.
