To gear or not to gear...

Hey people,

First time poster long time reader :-D

Gonna try and keep this nice and straight to the point. (But it probably won't be :P)

Lots of research on gear lately and trying to decide whether it's a path I wanna go down, loving the site and the openess it brings. Any kind of taboo subject can lead to misinformation and the fact that a lot of people are trying to educate instead of pretending it's not happening is great.

21 years old.
Lifting for two years.
5"7
Started 63kg guessing around 18-20%bf now 80kg and 16%bf

My training is solid, I do mostly upperbody lower body split nowadays. Diet could be admittedly slightly cleaner when I started, but been trying IF for the past 8 weeks though and has been going well. Pretty sure the only thing letting me down right now is not being exact enough about my macros. Ive had no trouble putting on mass over the past couple years and I have been keeping the calories at a deficit as of recently to try and lean out. Just struggling to get that bf% down still.

The main thing i'm interested in (and i've read it a lot on this site) is this idea that you have to be virtually maxed out to justify juicing up. I totally understand that if you dont have everything else down then it's not going to have much of an effect. However surely it makes sense that you would just wanna reach your goals faster?  Or is it just frowned upon because it's just being used as a type of shortcut and if you can't do the other stuff then you're clearly not dedicated to the cause?

Go easy on me haha.

Cheers,
Supernoob :D

Just do what you want to do there are no rules to say you have to be a certain age or training x amount of years, it won't really harm your ability to grow naturAlly again, you'll prob just end up beyond your natural genetic potential anyway. Just make sure it's what you really want to do and you are 100% ok with potential side effects.

imo if you're gonna do it you're gonna do it and you've prob already made up your mind before posting this question.

no sense wasting time gaining at x rate when you could get a lot more results on gear. just make sure training and nutrition is dialled in.

risks/sides gonna be just as bad for you after another 3 years of being natty as they will be now.

All good points.

I mean just so you know what my mind set is.. I enjoy lifting, I enjoy the dieting, I enjoy the research. Could easily see myself lifting for the rest of my life. I'm not going for Arnold status or anything, just some nice lean gains. Not looking to just pump myself with as much as I can, just something to give me an extra boost. No doubt as more money comes in as I get older the purchasing of large amounts of good clean foods won't be so much of an issue. Course theres the debate of whether money spent on gear was better off dedicated to food haha..

For informations sake, heres my first cycle I was looking into.

17 Weeks

Weeks 1-6
500mg of TestE with 25g Dbol everyday.

Weeks 7-12
500mg TestE

Weeks 13-14
Off

Weeks 15-17
40mg Novaldex everyday dropping to 20mg on the last week

Appreciate all the input guys, cheers
