Yo guys, just got a quick question about cutting. When you aree cutting how many calories less than your tdee should you eat? Is there anything wrong with eating less than you should? because i found that i can comfortably eat 700 calories less than my tdee and i lose weight quite rapidly. As always any advice is appreciated. Cheers

Pretty sure it just depends on how quick you want to loose Weight; The bigger the defict the quicker your loose weight. To be honest if you are taking in a 700 calorie defict every day you'll eventually notice that you are loosing strength and it will affect your performance/will result in muscle mass loss.

well just like bulking where you can only put on so much muscle before you add on fat as well, when cutting you can only lose so much fat per x period before you start losing muscle too so it just comes down to being sensible about it. 700cal deficit and you say you're feeling fine so you're probably alright..how far someone can go before getting catabolic varies person to person but have heard multiple times on this forum that if you're losing about half a kilo a week then you're probably doing alright.  just when people get silly with crash diets when things get a little dodgy (terrible mood, lose a bit of muscle ont he way generally end up looking skinny fat instead of lean)

If you are planing on doing a comp sometime in the year. You will lose streghth quickly as you get closer to the  show plus you will have days like one day having lots of engergy and one day having not so much engery which is normal when one is cutting for  a comp. You will also feel pissed at times for no such reason at all which is normal when one is cutting for a comp

IMO its better to stay as close to what you were eating before as possible and slowly drop calories out. When you lose heaps of weight per week it doesnt mean it is all fat and the excess could be water or glycogen. no point losing more than around 2lbs per week as you'll just be getting flatter and you could be eating more food with the same fat loss. Doing it slowly will mean you could go for longer which will mean losing more fat overall and "keep more muscle" (i.e fullness). Meaning better results because you will look like you have more muscle (which is what we are aiming for right?). Too fast = looking flat and small and more likely to binge or rebound eat and put more fat back on.

IMO if you only have 6 weeks to cut or something then still better to do it slow and steady because it would be easier to try at maintain that bf level and then resume cutting later on. rather than rush it and crash diet for 6 weeeks, look flat and strung out then eat and put on heaps of water/fat weight back on and be right back where you started (or close to).
