Cooked chickens from the supermarket arent too bad, get them on special for around $12 and I normally pull about 400g of cooked meat off one! Throwing away the skin and fatty bits of course

o yeh lol im a noop in knowing food prices my friend just told me he gets from super market too

so 12 for a kg or 12 for 400g lol

They use size 14 chickens for those rotisserie chickens which means the whole bird weighs 1.4kgs.

Compare that to the frozen section of the supermarket where for $13.99, you can purchase a Tegel Size 26 chicken, or a size 20 chicken for $10.99. I think last week Countdown were selling Size 30s for $14.99.

There is proportionally more meat on the bird as they get bigger. So a small bird may only be 70% meat and 30% bone while a large chicken will probably be 80% meat and 20% bone. That means even with the same $ per kg price, the larger bird is better value. Totally arbitrary numbers for the sake of providing an example.

You're going to be spending a lot of money if you purchase all your meat cooked. Also why would a butcher sell cooked meat? I've never seen one that sells cooked meat, if they sold food ready for consumption then they would be a restaurant

400g COOKED . So would weigh a lot more raw. I don't think the price difference is huge considering the convenience of it if your caught short . Like anything in this world, you pay for convenience !

The raw meat you buy in the butcher or in the supermarket if breast is the premium part of the chicken. but when you rip all the meat off the whole cooked chicken it's not all premium.

the comparison youre making isn't really accurate.

true but meat is protein either way just more fat and skin on the other parts( well at least u get the vitamin K or E watvr it is tht in the skin from wht i heard lol)

and it still saves you the trouble of cooking

truth the main reason i wna buy readymade is the chicken i make cook is starting get old and boring and doesnt really taste tht good lol ,the only way i make them is frying them, which never comes tender and juicy as readymade. and i use either stiry fry sauce(which for some reason taste good on first day and chit on the next day) and the other way i cook is frying using peri peri sauce which i like best.

tbh just getting lazy cooking all the time and need new and better ways to cook(which im lazy to learn)

if ur truly dedicated you can eat the stuff you cook or if ur a good cook then even better heh ul enjoy it and it jut the time tht u deal with

i know you asked for cooked food ideas but just gonna leave this here anyway because some day you're gonna get bored of the supermarket cooked stuff and maybe try cooking again.

sounds like you need some inspiration to cook bro, maybe watch some of those cooking shows (srs).

i watch some of that jamie oliver stuff when i can because he keeps it real not like fancy restaurant stuff get some good ideas from him on how to cook stuff good source of inspiration for anyone if you are tired of fried chicken + rice + bbq sauce lol. also weather is getting better now too if you got a BBQ you might consider busting that out give yourself something different.
you'll want to get a bunch of diff sauces for eating with for variety too like tomato sauce, bbq sauce, sweet thai chilli, extra hot peri peri sauce. gotta get some of those spices, vinegar, dark/light soy sauce, peanut/seasmea/chilli/olive oils in the cupboard too get all kindzz of different flavours

keeping it tender and juicy while cooking needs a bit of practice and a little extra attention. when you see the skin drying up you can add a bit more of your marinading sauce on top seems to help retain a bit of moisture.

Why so lazy? Just cook it lol

Brown a couple kilos of chicken pieces in a big pot then chuck in a couple cans of flavoured tomatoes, some garlic, herbs, etc and simmer for 20 mins. Or just BBQ it lol.

Sometimes you can get big packets of cooked prawns from the supermarket cheap if you go there soon before they close I guess.

Cheapest meat is probably big roasts like beef bolar roasts or similar. Learn to cook those (easy) and you'll be in meat for days for like $20

Another option for the chicken is to go to the supermarket deli, They shred the unsold cooked chickens and sell cheaper, around $2.50 per 100g. And if you ask the girl at the counter nicely you can normally get all breast meat *good* Great if your in a hurry - no mess and can eat straight out of the bag
