California in the House!

Me:

Hi everyone, my name's Joshua and as the subject line says, I'm from California. I'm currently in New Plymouth, NZ. I've visited NZ before, but this time I'll be living here for a couple years (not back-packing). I've been here 9 months so far. I've generally been to most major cities in the North Island, and I hope to get down to to the South Island sometime. I'm bilingual in English and Spanish, as my family is hispanic/latino from Nicaragua originally. I was the first generation born in the USA.

Gymnasium:

I've been into weightlifting since I was 12yo, I'm currently 28yo (16 years). It started when I joined my High School's Football team (not soccer). That got me into lifting weights and all that. I was on the team for the whole 4 years, and although I hardly played since I wasn't very good, one good thing that did come of it was that I was a lot stronger. From when I graduated until a couple years ago, I was kind of going to the gym on and off. But this time I am as dedicated as ever and I am stronger than I have been my whole life! I've got a 145kg Bench max so far. *yes3* I do a 3-day split and I normally go to the gym around 1am so I have the entire gym to myself. I recently found out that I have low-testosterone, so I'll be using gear sometime in the future. I'm still learning about them, but I have a pretty good idea on how everything is done. So keep an eye out for me in the Steroid forums!

Where I'm from:

I was born in San Francisco, California, then my family moved to Burbank, California where I pretty much grew up. Burbank is also known as The Media Capital of the World because a lot of the major studios are there, like Warner Bros., Dreamworks, Disney, CBS, ABC, and so on. Pretty much anyone who wants to get into show business moves to Burbank. I did see celebrities every once in a while. The last one I saw (in a bar) was Laura Prepon, who plays Donna on That 70's Show. If you guys wanna know anything about where I'm from (Southern California), just ask away. One thing I normally get asked is why I left "exciting" California for "boring" NZ. I'll answer that next, but the thing I tell people is "The grass is always greener on the other side."

Why I'm in NZ:

When I was 19yo, I was in a chatroom where I would meet a beautiful girl from NZ. Ever since then, we've been in a relationship (VERY long distance) and have visited each other's countries a couple times. I moved here to finally stop being long-distance and start being normal. We plan on saving up and moving to Wellington some time before Christmas 2013. Before I met my girlfriend, I hadn't even *heard* of New Zealand, lol.*blush* And now look at me, I'm living in a country that I hadn't even heard of 10 years ago!

Welcome Atomic Punch, how do you find New Plymouth?

New Plymouth is nice, but it kind of gets old after a while, lol. You can pretty much see all there is to see here in about a month. I try to be as outgoing as I can. I try to go to any shows that are in town, I joined the New Plymouth club (mostly made up of old people), and stuff like that. Coming from a bigger city, I kind of want a bit more to keep me occupied, ya know? That's why we're planning on moving to Wellington soon.

For the time being, I really enjoy the nature that's all around. I particularly enjoy feeding bread to all the ducks/geese/seagulls/etc that are around. I probably enjoy that more than I should, lol. I like how they all scramble to get this small piece of bread. There isn't much wildlife where I come from.

Wow, a long-distance relationship for nearly 10 years? That's impressive.

So what are your goals, mate? Are you mostly into strength training?

Thanks Pseudonym. I'm both proud and embarrassed that I've been in a long-distance relationship for almost 10 years. I'm proud that we had been able to stay in a relationship that long, but I'm embarrassed that it took us so long to finally get together. But we're together now, that's what counts.*i-m_so_happy*

As I stated before, I have low testosterone, so one of my goals is definitely to fix that. I sure it's what caused me to have a lack of drive in all I do, including coming to be with my girlfriend. I really enjoy school, but my focus and energy just isn't there (but I'm not giving up!). So I definitely want to improve my quality of life. Aside from that, I do strength training, but I would like to have an overall athletic physique. A dream of mine is to join the U.S Military, but being around 110kg at 5'9", I have some weight to lose. I'd like to travel the world with the military while having a respectable job.

lmao I think them oldies are getting to you! Also, if you have been found to be low test can't you go to an endocrinologist and get yourself geared up legally/easily?

Hey man, feeding those birds is fun! I like watching them fight over the food. I've literally seen a seagull clamp down and swing off on a piece of bread that was already in a goose's beak, while the goose was running away! I went to Whanganui and I managed to get a goose to fight a swan for a piece of bread. So much fun! *ok*

I've tried getting gear legally but the doctors I've gone to say that I'm in the "normal range", which is a stupid scale in the first place. Last time I checked (last year), I was like 456 ng/dl, which is the test levels for someone at least twice my age. I don't know if in NZ they would gear me, and if I managed to find a doctor that's willing, I would need some type of health insurance to pay for the treatment. All I've got at the moment is Traveler's insurance, which I'm supposed to have in accordance with my Working Visa.

Any ideas? Should I get a private GP? Any special insurance recommendations?
