Congratulations to all our contestants, whether you won a prize or not. There were many amazing transformations and performances - and sadly not all of them could win a prize. But the photos and videos you put up were inspiring, and you should all be hugely proud of yourselves. For those who did win prizes, I'll be in touch over the next day or so with the details.

Speaking of which, a massive thanks to our Challenge sponsors - NZ Muscle, Fitwear, and most particularly Horleys who generously donated such enormous prizes. Please repay the huge support these sponsors have given us, and promote their brands fanatically. This Challenge would be nothing without them.

Grats to all the winners, some huge changes there. Hopefully a few of the newer members will stick around.

Thanks to Horleys, NZ Muscle and Fitwear for putting up the prizes and big thanks to the crew here at Gymnation for making it all happen.

LOL at how many categories I came second in. FML

Do I only receive one $85 voucher though? You can only win one prize in each division? Or was that for only the winners prize?

I was going to comment on this, Leeroid. I thought you must be trying to collect the whole set! :D

Seriously though, the fact that you entered so many categories is awesome and much appreciated. The fact that you also nearly won so many of them is truly amazing.

The only restriction on prizes was that if you win a year's supply of protein, you can't win anything else - because surely that's enough! In your case, you win four times $85 vouchers = $340.

Well, don't let them go to waste. Chuck 'em up for us to see! Either in the topic, or in a journal?

OK guys... while this Challenge is still fresh in everyone's minds, I thought I'd get some feedback from you all. I want to hear from everyone - whether you entered or not.

- Did you enter? If not, what could have persuaded you to enter?

- What bits do you think worked well?

- What bits could we improve?

- Do you think the competition was too complicated or difficult to enter? Or were the prizes worth it? Can we simplify things in any way?

- Entered; Therefore can not answer first question.

- I liked the fact of prizes given (I'm sure everyone did)

- Could have let the mods do the judging or a better judging system; At the end of the day I think it came down to people invititng their friends to come and vote for them... Could have also been more spot prizes; Maybe some prizes given away for progess photos being uploaded over the course of the competition etc

Did you enter? If not, what could have persuaded you to enter?

- entered, prizes were too good not to :D

What bits do you think worked well?

- giveaways and incentiveswere enticing and encouraged new memebers to join, different categories (aesthetics, bodybuilding, powerlifting, crossfit) catered for the majority.

What bits could we improve?

- the obvious one for me was the rules were a bit grey in some areas and needed to be more clear. e.g the powerlifting comp - squatting to parallel and issues around that and lastly the judging panel for the bodybuilding and aesthetics class was not really "controlled", basically anyone with enough friends that were willing to vote could have won regardless of their transformation/physique, i think next time it should be judged by a panel or at least restrict voting to members that have been apart of the forum within a certain time frame of the competition begining/ending.

-for those that enter maybe it would good if everyone had to keep a journal, at least the time of the competition, that way newer and older members would be encouraged to post more and for sustainability purposes the newer members hopefully hang around instead of dissapearing after the comp is done.

considering this is the first time something like this has happened on the fourm I thought you guys did a pretty frickin awesome job in terms of organising and facilitating the comp, big thumbs up to the team at gymnation and once again thanks to the sponsors, looking forward to the next one.

- I entered powerlifting novice and open yep prizes were way to good to ignore, didnt think id win the open but happy and the prizes made me train very hard.

- Mostly everything worked well , all the different categories allowed people to choose what suited them the best ,the prizes ,rules wernt to strict ( i think the open should be same as a real comp with such prizes at stake, and the novice dont know if should be so strict on rules or be more lenient, oh and drug testing buahahaha lol ).

Are these prizes worth way more value than what you get a a real comp?

- Improve on rules , maybe when a comp like this starts everyone that wants to enter has to put up there begining pics and lifts within a certain timeframe  eg 1 or 2 weeks , a set voting panel for the pic comparisons ( people that have been on here before the comp even started).

Do you think the competition was too complicated or difficult to enter? comp was easy and simple to enter , maybe could so a lil vid/pic or an example for people to see for each category to give them an idea of what to do.

Or were the prizes worth it? Can we simplify things in any way? Prizes were way worth it and made me push harder than i usually do. I reckon things were simple enough they just need more fine tuning with rules.

( This comp was awesome as really enjoyed bein apart of it and it has made turn to give powerlifting a try out next year, will definatly get involved with it again next year )

Some Ideas

- If possible maybe have smaller comps durin the year leading up to the big one.

- Make a flyer on here so we can get printed and put in all the gyms and post around town

- Somehow i would like to meet everyone on here maybe the ones more closer to our own areas 1st have bbqs and trainings etc Maybe called a social meet or something.

- If our sponsors on here are here to stay try do our own Gymnation powerlifting, bodybuilding, crossfit federation make it be N.Z wide (could be an amateur type fed and prepare people for the more higher level comps or it can build up to being a high level fed lol) .....dreaming lol

Entered

- What bits do you think worked well?

  • Awesome prizes
  • Good sense of friendly competition/banter here and there
  • People were encouraged to enter all the categories instead of being limited to just 1 (and good outcome of that is Leeroids success)
  • Some proactive work to get more entries in earlier on instead of last minute stuff. Good work on sponsors coming to the party and providing incentives there too

- What bits could we improve?

  • Probably need to work on substantially increasing your Facebook profile over the course of this year now so come next year when you advertise, you get heaps more hits for the challenge though it was pretty good this year with the little subscriber base you had on there. I realise this is heaps easier said than done though!
  • Need to fix how winners of BB/Physique are determined
    • Dedicated judging panel (perhaps team of 3 mods) to vote for winner
    • Or if still want to keep it as community votes then somehow make it so only users registered before x date and/or postcount > x are allowed to vote so it's not just cheat or friend votes.. still not as ideal as dedicated judges I guess
  • Need judging panel to review/scrutinize the strength/crossfit sections entries as they are submitted and give red or green lights early on or at least before winner is announced to avoid that situation where the trophy is given then removed from a winner.
  • The challenge is pretty motivating for all kinds of people and brings in tonnes of people but way too many just post once or twice and leave it at that. Need a situation where they are encouraged to make return visits which is ideal in expanding the community and obviously better situation for the advertising partners/sponsors of the site. Rapz had a really neat suggestion about a journal requirement then again, it's more effort on the part of the user and it may put them off entering. Could be an ongoing topic joined in to that 'how can we make gymnation better' thread. I suspect this problem may just solve it self once you have implemented that new mobile friendly workout journal/tracker thing you guys got planned but who knows.
