Gymnation Summer Challenge 2013

Intresting points raised on both sides of the fence *ok*

I think some incentive or expectation to post before pictures or at least one should be a requirement. This way, someone who is in great shape could take pictures now and label them as "after pictures" sit on the couch and eat ice cream... chips for the next few weeks. Take some pictures as "before photos"...

In before it is a good idea *lol*

Might be a good idea to have everyone showing the latest newspaper with the date on it with there before photo and a newspaper with the date with there after pics aswell, coz people can use there old out of shape pics from a long time ago and can use there best transformation pics aswell this category can easily be cheated.

People can use a newpaper with the date for their before pic with a newspaper showing a date anytime between when this comp started till its over and an after pic with a newspaper showing the date anytime before December the 1st.......just an idea anyway.

That is a really good idea. Shame I'm not in shape now or that would clearly be the way I'd go with this.

Realistically though I dont think people would do that.... Gonna be hard to find someone who is really shredded just for no reason (and we dont already know that they are shredded atm - e.g those who have just competed we will know they just have) . Also who would want to do that going into summer? Especially just for protein. Its like self sabotage.

Unless they were truly dedicated to eating pizza and kfc err day (pretty expensive and kind of defeats the point as surely the cost of mountains of junk and thousands of calories they  would have to buy would offset the protien they would win?), Unless they were that dedicated  It would be hard to put on 10 -15kgs of fat over 10 weeks (for a shredded guy at least?) than it would for someone fat as to lose 10-15kgs of fat?. Fair enough if they did though - gotta have dat protein.

not saying its not possible but highly unlikely.

LOL OnlyHuman that is a good idea. Hey Pseudo here's an idea for the most improved comps - for the after pics just a week or two before the cut off date Dec 1st, post up a secret phrase which people have to include in the signs they hold up like "GymRat Bibby17952" specially to prevent stuff like this even though it's kind of unlikely.

Sorry guys - I was away for the weekend.

I thought you said there would be some other spot prizes other than the protein for randoms/runnersup?

So currently the prizes for each of the 8 categories are 12 months of Horleys protein for the winner, and $50 and $25 vouchers for the second and third place getters.

if it gets to the end they might not think they've done well enough to win so might not post even if they've made changes... Maybe other prizes woudl help that. But im just speculating.

See that's what I'm wondering... if people are thinking they don't stand a chance, so they won't even try. So maybe another prize which could be randomly won by anyone who enters might help that?

Or is the hurdle we need to overcome something else entirely?

I think people want to enter but because they dont have to put their pics in yet they dont.

There's definitely an element of that. Do you think it's the same for the powerlifting and crossfit categories too?

OnlyHuman, we do already have a rule that says we can ask people for extra proof if need be. So if we suspect anyone of posting "reverse" Before-After photos, we can always just demand they take another After shot to clear things up.

i think it should have been complusory to post your before pics before a certain date, that way you will know who is definitely in.  but even then some may not even finish the comp.  i think most assume that in the aesthetics and bodybuilding catergories there is a expectation of coming in "shredded" or something along those lines, i would think if someone one relatively small to start with nd manged to pack on some good mass within the time frame would be a lot more impressive then losing a bit of fat......

..........now im getting a bit off topic my bad!! lol,

OK guys, you asked for prizes that anyone can win, even if you're not the biggest/strongest/leanest/fittest. So that's we've done.

Fitwear have come on board with 20x vouchers, each worth $100, which can be used on their Gen. I and Gen. II clothing collections. And every category you enter puts you in the draw - the more you enter, the more chances you have to win.

Plus we've got a bonus draw - Enter any of our Challenge categories in the next week, and you're in the draw to win one of six tubs of Horleys protein. Every category you enter gives you another chance to win, and you'll be in in the running for our main prize - a year's supply of Horleys protein powder for the winner of each category!

I want to enter but the layout of entries is weird.. like is it possible to just post on instagram and tag?

what do you mean by wierd? do you mean how everyones entries are across different pages because that'll probably get fixed by the mods upon voting time. the entires probably all be collaborated somehow so that say someone who entered on the 10th page isn't disadvantaged than someone who entered 1st page.

if you meant in regards to where you want to upload them then the rules don't have any exclusions about that just host it where you want and embed the pics in here

Thanks guys. I should probably point out that we've merged the two least popular categories (Crossfit male and female) into one Crossfit category. That's allowed us to make the 6 tubs of Horleys protein available as a draw, which anyone can win.

I'm not sure what you're asking, Anjuli. Did FellowshipOfTheRon answer your question? You can post the photos on Instagram, right-click Copy, then just reply to the category topic back here, and Paste.

Those of us that have already entered are eligible for these new prizes?

Yes, but don't settle for that. Go and enter some new categories and maximise your chances!

See if you can beat my Crossfit time. My best is currently a rubbish 10:58, so beating that shouldn't be hard.

:P
