eggs

just wondering what every one does when buying eggs? Can you buy just egg whites?

I vaugley remember some one saying they bought just egg whites that were left overs from a restaraunt.. So I thought maybe there are cheap options to buy just egg whites.. Buying whole eggs and biffing the yolks seems like such a waste and and a bit of a painful way of going about getting protein..
And does this mean you automatically buy the cheapest cage eggs you can find?

Im thinking 12 eggs, 3.5g protien per egg white, 42grms protein..  For all the hassell of buying, seperating and cooking them, I might as well just buy a HPLC bar and get 45 grams of protein the easy way for the same price and 1/10th the hassle..

Any thoughts????

When I was cutting for the Pan Pacific show I bought a tray of 30 eggs for just under ten dollars which I thought was a good price plus they were cage free eggs as well. and I was buying four trays of 30 a week since I was having ten  egg whites a day

How the hell do you not know where to buy trays of eggs from? Have you never been to the supermarket?

Of course I have seen trays of eggs at the supermarket but I didnt know they came as trays of 30..

Never stopped to count them and never bothered to buy  them before...  I usually just buy a carton of 12 eggs..

So sue me!

What holdenman said.

Supermarket or asian grocery or asian butcher.

f*ck cage-free.  Eggs filled with hatred and rage better fuel workouts.

each to their own i guess....   Im feel sorry for them poor chookys caged up.. But then chooks are probably that dumb they dont realise it anyway.. :-)

on the face of it, I guess it was a dumb q but I never stopped to count a tray before.. didnt realise the ones in the supermarkets or Asian groceries would hold anything like 30 eggs..  And yeah, Im a little put off with non free range which the tray eggs will be but then I guess its a matter of you get what you pay for...

I used to keep chooks and the difference in the colour of the free range eggs  and them caged eggs is quite amazing..  Them caged eggs look so pale and blerk when you open them..

Anyway, cheers guys.. Will give them some thought... Im dropping a lot of weight at the mo,   Once my weight plataues (sp), I'll think about whether I'll start on the tray eggs., for now I think I'll just stick with the free range eggs and eat them whole..

You can get a double tray pack (60) from Pak n Save for around $11-$14 depending on specials etc. Eat 'em whole. Get swole.

Otherwise you could get powered egg whites which are alot cheaper than the liquid ones, but taste pretty ass really.

went and bought a tray of 30 today.. Now that Im seriously upping my protein that pack of 60 looks worth while.. I often eat them raw.. chuck a couple in to my shake to try to get the protien content up..    I know we arent supposed to eat them raw but its just too easy not too..

Powdered eggs whites just dont sound too tastey lol  Might be good to add to cooking?

I thought that without cooking them that your body doesn't utilise most of the protein in them. Not 100% sure on that but worth reading more about rather than wasting them.

You can get Zealgold liquid eggwhites which are about $7 for 1 ltre so about 30eggs wharf.

Most supermarkets have them - in the chiller near the soups etc

I never realised they were so mainstream, and I could never be bothered ordering them. Cheers, Hitro - you may have saved me from a whole lot of egg-separating in future.
