I had always thought 100g of raw chicken breast gave you 30g of protein. However, going by the NZFoodFiles database (put out by The New Zealand Institute for Plant & Food Research Limited)...

30g protein per 100g chicken breast, grilled

25g protein per 100g chicken breast, roasted

22g protein per 100g chicken breast, raw (lean)

I read that in the US they pump the chicken breasts full of salt water to give it flavour and make it weigh more. Obviously doing that would bring down the protein per 100g. Does anyone know if they do that in NZ?

Yup... It's common practice.  Tender baste and all those brands are full of salt and sugar... If the chicken still looks slightly pink even when fully cooked then its full of salt and sugar.

chicken in the UK is the worst!
