Should we have a competition?

We are so close, Kalidane. Hopefully we'll get this up and running in the next day or two.

Although I'm a bit concerned about the crossfit challenge. I attempted it today and failed miserably. I don’t know whether that’s because I’m unfit (quite possible) or that the workout is just too ambitious.

I just wonder if a total of 60x Chins and 60x Dumbbell Thrusters is unrealistic – it sure was for me!

Would it be better to drop everything back to 15 reps for the guys, and 10 reps for the girls? (We could just do one round, but somehow that seems too easy.)

It’s got to be achievable (with work) for a crossfit newbie, and yet still challenging for an advanced athlete. What do you guys think?

Pseudo, I suspect you did all your reps strict? 'Cos that would've been killer *bad*

I like the wod. Like Ness was saying - both males and females would have the same reps normally.

We don't have dumbells at our box, but could use kettlebells? I'll give the comp a go, and know of some others who'd give it a try!

Bad

Hah! This is exactly how I was!

Strict reps? Not by bodybuilding standards, but I certainly haven't mastered the art of kipping.

I think those reps are ok, one round would be way too easy. Realistically the reps should be no different for the guys and girls.  We don't have dumbells can we use a barbell for the thrusters??? Also I'm guessing it would need to be videod for verification??

Ah right, I'd forgotten dumbbells weren't standard issue for crossfit boxes. The only reason I suggested dumbbells over barbells was to avoid people using those smaller, lighter bars that some gyms have. But I suppose we could say standard Olympic bars only?

Yes, the wod needs to be filmed continuously so we can verify the reps and time. That probably means we should have a wod that can be completed in 5-10 mins. Do you think this is doable? (It took me 6 mins for the first round alone... :P)

In my opinion knee wraps are equipped lifting they add 30kg to a squat and not everyone owns a pair. If someone wanted to compete and be competitive they would need to buy a pair if they didn't already own a pair which would kind of defeat the purpose of winning a prize.

I know what I can squat with knee wraps done tight and I know what I can squat without them. And it's quite a big difference.
