Protan vs Jantana

Hi guys

I've got my first bodybuilding competition in 4 weeks so wanted an opinion on what tanning product I should use. I was going to go with dream tan but it is not allowed in IFBB any more.

So its either Protan, Jantana, spray tan by Jade McKinnon or spray tan at my local salon where I get my sunbed sessions.

I was leaning towards the Protan going by reviews on the internet. I've been browning up quite nicely with MT2 and twice weekly tanning sessions so don't think there will be a need for a base spray tan.

If I do go with the Protan, I was thinking of putting on a coat of Protan Competition colour on Thursday evening, another on Friday and touchup on Sat morning. Then put on a coat of Protan stage finish before I step on stage. Does that sound adequate?

I would go for the spary on tan and get the first coat put on the day before the show  and second coat put on the day of the show for a touch up job.Thought about using dream tan when I competed in the Pan Pacific show.I was amazed on how easy spary tan comes off in the shower.When I had a shower after the show I thought I would have to spend a fair bit of time in the shower scrubing  the spary tan off no it comes off easy as.Which show are you doing in four weeks time if you dont mind me asking?

I'm doing the IFBB Waikatos Gymrat, Junior division and maybe Novice 70-80kg class too. Thanks for your input.

I would go from the protan and if you want to get a spray tan base just go for the local salon and ask for a dark tan. I got mine done in Te Awamutu looks pretty dark when it is applied. You might not need it though as your already pretty tanned. 

I haven't heard much about the Jantana tan though.

Just remember Leeroid you CAN NEVER be too dark on stage (too patchy yes LOL).

Go for a dark developing tan from salon on thursday just to give a base (its only $30 or so), even if you're dark from MT2. Then Friday hit Protan (2 coats over day, no showering!). Then maybe one more Sat morning if you need it.

Way easier with Dream tan - dark salon coat on thursday/friday, then two coats of dream tan 30 mins before stage! Jantana similar - I had a nice wash off one but it was a little light for stage (great for clubbing lol) but the shimmers similar to DT I believe. (unsure what their base tan equivalent to protan is like, never used it).

Suntanon (see what they did there, 250mL maybe LOL) is another product people are rating highly - think Joanna Mountford is sponsored by them now?

What was everyone using at the NZIFBB Auckland show? They seemed ever-so-slightly on the light side to me, but it was certainly a nice colour and really even.

(I've seen some tans that look almost green. Not good!)

For my tans  that I got were for the first coat I got put on was  light spray tan  done at rubby wax in Les Mills Auckland and the second coat on the day of the show and dark tan done by Mobile beauty which I thought were good value for money
