When I was coming off my comp I notice that my metabolism was like a rocket after I had a meal and I was still hungry about 20 minutes later which made me want more food in me  and now my metabloism  is normal again plus I tempet at times to go to all you can eat buffet and had second thoughts about doing the since I am coming off at comp.

Cheers Kalidane. That was a good watch.

It reinforced a few hunches I'd long held, but never had confirmed. Like how lean people are often much more energetic in their movements than fatties. (I know that could be cause or effect, but it seems it's both.) Moral of the story: to be lean, move faster, and jiggle. :D

Also interesting that people's BMRs are so similar. The only area I thought he could have expanded on further was genetics. It seems like it only plays a part in the Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT) section of the equation. So it didn't sound like it was a big factor, but I wonder just how much of a factor that is?

Pretty interesting vid.  Nothing jumped out as erroneous so is well worth the 25mins.

 

A few things in there that might make ya go "oh, so that's why such-and-such"

good video, but its a shame he appears to be missing a huge peice of the puzzle...

no, just good old common sense lol

 

There are many reasons why some people seem to get fat much easier than others.  That video above also ignores this point.  Theres' a lot more to it than whether you just fidget a bit less than other people..

Although he's right in that if you are in calorie deficit, you will lose weight. No ifs or butts. You cannot stay in calorie deficit by starving your self and exercising your ass of and not lose weight and stay fat. Even just plain simple common sense dictates this let alone using logic...

Anyway, I'll post a lot of different examples soon.. Busy at the mo..

Here is just one example for starters, its a good read and it will be an eye opener for some in here by the sounds of it.

FFS your sources are all shit. can see without even clicking that most of them are media pieces with little credability. anyone can write shit on the internet and there are idiots out there who believe it. just because you can find lots of links about something doesnt give it any real credability. could probably find just as many links saying that those theories are bullshit. not saying they are/arent, but jesus fucking christ... you seem like the kind of guy who would do well in a cult environment

As I said, havent finished posting yet - just getting warmed up..

Aint really got time for this at the mo, but I am intending on posting something more scientific.. Aint got all friggen day to sit at the pc... ..

I dont believe you havent got a friend or serveral that have either struggled to lose weight even though they dont appear to eat much, or  never put much weight on even though they appear to eat shit loads.

I personally have a few friends in one of those catagories.. 

Oh and that includes myself..  I spent years hunting, often living in the bush for weeks on end, out for a weekend and to reorganise supplies and back in again for weeks..

Uusally camp was just a bush hut made of of manuka and polothene.. No fridges, no way to store icecream, milk, butter or bread.. Way in the back of no where.  Nearest store - hours to  walk out of the bush and a hours drive away. .. So no junk food, real clean diet, mainly living on  venison and potatoes. Up early, a quick breakfast and all day out in the bush, often very steep terrain. I would on average shift 35 traps a day on a 115 trap, trapline.  So a reasonable weight to lug up and down steep bush terrain every day..   Admittledly eating well, but very clean food and only breakfast and tea.

Who of you could remain fat under condtions like this?  Any of you??

Anyway, I dont need to prove this as I know this issue exists.. I have lived and breathed it.  And those links above? Why would there be so many studies in to why people have trouble getting rid of fat if the issue didnt exist?

As I said, I have one good friend / cousin who in particular is as skinny as a rat and consumes massive amounts of calories a day..  He's a heavy beer drinker and in his early 50s for the first time is only just starting to show a little bit of a pot..

Some one said you cant just look at one person etc? Yes I can.. If this is the case with even one person, its proof it exists.   But I can tell you about other friends.. I dont believe that the majority in here dont know some one like Im talking about...

Any way, hope you got your lol's out of this post AZIDE.. Its past midnight and I should be sleeping by now.. Need my beauty sleep you know!

lol Nutrition is one of the most disputed subjects I have ever come across. Google is an amazing thing, you can find info to back up any theory you come up with, but this doesnt mean its true.

I am interested in why you keep aguring tho mrgeeky. Theres a lot of clued up people on here with the bodys to prove it...

didnt have time to watch it all.  And yes, of course that does happen.. Only watched part of it.. . have saved it for a spare day...  Sure there are fat people out there that wont realise they are over eating and some skinnys that wont realise they are undereating..  I would love to see them put it to the test with a large group of people, now that would be more convincing and would really make me take notice... ..

Not aruging, mate, discussing.. big difference.. Yes there are a lot of very clued up people in here, but how many have really struggled with being over weight like I have?  I dont know that so I dont know if any of these clued up people have had the same experiences i have had.  If they are all gifted with good genetics (not saying that is the case) but if they are, then they obviously wouldnt agree with me.

I think you would be surprised how many people here started over weight. It's the reason I started going to the gym, people that are comfortable with their body's often don't have the same motivation to get started. I look at it as an advantage, fuel for the fire

yep but as said, would need a group study to prove it..

Been spending the weekend soul searching and trying to nut all this out.. Kind of hard for me to go against everything I believe and have done all my life.. I thought it was pretty much a given that people burnt calories differently...  I was force fed as a baby, my mum and her neighbour had a comp to see who could have the heaviest baby..  Raised on a farm my mum said she raised me on full cream milk,   etc to get my weight up.. My mother always blamed herself for my weight issues and I just thought she was correct.. Not that I ever gave her a hard time about it. I just accepted what i was taught.

A study came out that said babies that are fed too much had fat cells that were taught to hold more fat for life, or some shit like that and for me it just confirmed for me what she said.

So this is what I believed my reason was for being overweight.. Didnt really want to share any of that, but just wanted you guys to understand.. Its the belief I have held my whole life.. 

Added to that all I have said previously, camping out in the bush for long lenghts of time, working my ass off and never losing weight etc ..

 

Anyway, Im now coming around to your guys way of thinking.. Its taking a lot of soul searching, and lot of being dazed and confused about the whole thing.. I still dont understand how it can be that there are set calories for losing weight for everyone.. Still doesnt make sense but Im going to take your guys word for it.. A lot of the research I have been doing over the weekend confirms this.. Im thinking of joining the most changed body shape in the current comp that gymnation is having..  Im still scratchign my head as to how adding a lot more calories is going to help me lose weight. I think anyone can see the logic in my thinking there..  I could understand it if I was struggling for energy etc... But I have energy to burn on my current diet.. Anyway, Im going to bow down to your guys superior knowledge and see where it leads..
