loose skin after big weightloss

Recommended Posts

used to be a fatty (round 120kg at 5"10 when i joined here)

got down to 77kg in a little over a year, currently 83kg @ 17% ish bf

got a little loose skin around lower stomach, to a point where abs wont ever be visible if i get lean enough i reckon, but nothing too serious.

doctor laughed at me when i mentioned surgery, said it would be way overkill, but didnt have any useful sugestions apart from leaving it a good 2 years and see how it tightens on its own..

what options are there for this apart from surgery? anyone else had this problem and found something with good results?

Excellent work maccaz. Just getting thru the first 6 months at the gym when your over wiegth is dam tough and worthy of a medal. I was quite big a year or so ago, lots of stretch marks ect. Still have some lose skin/fat around the stomach, most dn.t notice but I do. From what I know there is stuff all you can do mate, but if its any help no one can really see good abs till there around 10% especially people who hold fat round that area. So maybe keep on training and try to get a bit lower in bf. Surgery is the only option, most of those tv shows where people lose alot of wieght are always followed up with cosmetic surgery. Here we have to pay for it.

How old are you, Maccaz? Age plays a big factor in how much elasticity your skin has. The younger you are, the better the chances of it tightening up by itself, given time.

Cocoa butter moisturisers and/or Bio Oil may help speed the process up a bit. I think it's debatable how effective they are, but they certainly won't hurt.

Finally, I don't know how you feel about hormone supplementation, but Growth Hormone (from an anti-aging clinic, of course!) might be worth looking into. I know very little about GH, but I think it's good for this sort of thing. Perhaps someone else can confirm this.
