Labtests blood work reliable or not?

Recommended Posts

I went to get some blood work done to see where I was at before I jumped into my first cycle. I just got the basic total test and oestradiol. My results came back but they seemed a bit off. My toal test 9nmol/L (reference was 8-29). That seemed way too low for me as I am only 22 and have been lifting and playing sports all my life with no problems or signs of low test. I then went back a couple of days later to get it re-tested and my total came back as 23nmol/L which was a big difference. So I am just wondering if anyone knows how reliable/accurate or consistant these tests are?

Hormone levels raise & fall throughout the day. Both of yours were in the normal range so that's probably why you say you've never had symptoms of low test.

The tests can only show what is in your blood at a given point in time, but they are accurate for that discrete point.

Try and conduct your bloodtests at the same time of day with the same mitigating factors.

I draw blood first thing in the morning on a fast. While the testing is not always a true representation of my levels throughout the day, however varience is more accurate.
