I was horrified to discover today that Naera Johnson, one of New Zealand bodybuildings most inspirational athletes and respected NABBA/WFF judges has received a 6 month ban from judging by NABBA/WFF!!!!!

Why???????????

Would you believe it's for the henous crime of .......... Guest posing at the Nabbanz Waikato show this Saturday!

What utter rubbish.... I'm astonished at the small minded and childish politics that are going on behind the scenes here....

I have competed for 3 years now in both Nabbanz and Nabba/wff events.... To be honest I dont give a flying Frick about what federation Im competing in as long as I get up on the stage....as Im sure many other athletes feel the same!!

I don't care if anybody stole a name and who trademarked what..... I really dont get it and Im frankly not interested.... If I chose to compete in a Wff show am I going to be ostricised for competing the month after at a Nabbanz show????? NO.... I didnt think so.... And what about the Nabbanz organisers and judges that go on to compete in NZIFBB shows???.... Of Course theyre told not to come home without the top spot!!

So why the hell is one of our most dedicated and generous athletes being punished like a school kid caught chewing gum in class.... I love to see Naera....What an amazing women.... Either on stage looking awesome and inspirational as ever or at the judges table with her big smile and her warmth, affection and damn good knowledge of the sport, always at the ready to give advice for lost and confused amateurs like myself. People with a talent like Naera are unbelievably rare in this sport and that should be shouted from the rooftop.... not caged up by one selfish federation...

Shame on You Nabba/Wff......... Your Loss I say!!!!!

It seems it doesn't matter where you go - whether it's NABBA, NABBA/WFF, NZIFBB, whatever - there's politics in every organisation. I was talking to someone over the weekend (he can identify himself here if he wants) about the powerlifting organisations, and things are exactly the same there.

It's ironic really, because a lot of these organisations are set up by people who are dissatisfied with the politics in the old federations, so they create their own, and it becomes just as political as the feds they were trying to escape.

I suppose it's human nature, but it's a real shame that politics is bigger than our sports.

I did see Naera the other day and she knew it'd cause waves, but a ban from judging seems strange given NABBA-WFF don't care if their athletes compete in other feds as well? Maybe it's a constitutional thing and they had no option? I don't know but I'll sure ask!
