Food disasters you have created

I had a long day at the office yesterday and didn't get time to eat much, so at the end of the day, looking at what I'd eaten, I was a whole heap of calories short of my target. We didn't have much in the cupboards so I thought I'd try something new.

I share this with you to spare you from the same vomit-worthy experience.

  • 1x Jalapeno flour tortilla (basically just a wrap)
  • 2x tablespoons of smooth peanut butter
  • 1x scoop of vanilla protein powder

Melt the peanut butter in the microwave and then mix through the protein powder. Once it has mixed through (doesn't mix through very well), spread over the wrap, roll it up and eat.

*bad*

Flavour would have been acceptable by itself, if it wasn't for the fact that it was sooooo sticky and dry'ish in my mouth that I felt like I was stoned.

Anyone else created a shocker of a meal?

I'm working on a recipe at the moment, which I plan to post up here. It's a clafoutis, which is basically an eggy tart thing. Only mine's the bodybuilder's version, with 10 eggs.

The first version I did, I fluked the perfect recipe. But I hadn't measured anything. Subsequent attempts to recreate it have not been successful.

So far I've had the way-too-stodgy version, the way-too-runny version, and the latest one - the too-much-sugar-burnt-and-stuck-to-the-pan version. I should've taken a photo of the blackened bits I managed to salvage. Well, you can't waste the protein, can you?

oh man that really is a disaster. did you actually get the whole thing down? that's dedication right there if you did. just wondering why didn't you just mix the pb & protein powder in a cup of water or milk and eat the wierd tortilla separately.

as for my worst creation, when i first attempted a fancy shake i got a little carried away.

2 bananas, peanut butter, some ice cream, 2 cups of oats, some milk, some water, 4 scoops protein powder and the final magic ingredient - fish oil all in the mixer.

texture was sickeningly thick, instead of being a shake to drink i had to try eat it with a spoon and the fish oil caps made flavour very gag worthy with every bite not to mention i think the bananas weren't ripe yet so another gross taste from that. tried to finish it because such an expensive combo of ingredients in there but in the end just threw it away.

I've just remembered my first attempt at a cutting diet. I made myself an egg white omlette.

Being quite enthusiastic about this new diet, I figured I didn't need any fatty yolks, just the whites would do. That's the pure protein, after all.

And here's a cunning plan, if I cooked the eggs in the microwave, I could beat them, cook them and serve them - all in the same bowl!

Microwaving pure egg whites produces a grey rubber that smells like sulphur and tastes like nothing. It is not nice. :(

I did finish it, eventually, but only because my girl friend was sitting next to me on the couch giving me shit about it, so I had to finish :)

Dunno why I didn't do it separately. I guess I thought it would be faster combining it all .... little did I know!
