Burgers... become a burger cooking king.

Chicken burgers, fish burgers, beef burgers, potato burgers, burger burgers... a burger in a burger. Crumb some schnitzel and throw it in a burger.

Or you could get all the boring stuff...

Chicken, steak, mince, fish, eggs.

Pasta, rice, potatoes, kumara.

Green beans, spinach, capsicum, broccoli, lettuce, tomatoes

Avocados, almonds, peanut butter, olive oil

Apples, bananas, grapes, pears.

rice, potatoes, meat of your choosing (mix it up if you can so don't get bored of say fried chicken all the time)... buy all you can in bulk eg. rice in 20kg bags, potatoes in 10kg and sometimes places like mad butcher have good deals on quantities of meat so check around. whether $120 is enough or not... well that depends how well you manage it and exactly how big you already are. should easily be pretty good for most though i reckon as long as you are sorting stuff from home instead of eating out. watch some of those cooking shows, heaps on at the moment and become a kitchen master

Hey brah

I made 9kg lean in 10 weeks on <$60 per week so you're well sorted. Frickin caviar and lobster for you!

To get the most for my dollar I had to play around with a spreadsheet a bit and these are the common purchases I made:

For calories/$1 in descending order (you want at least 300 calories/$1)

Sun Rice long grain white rice

Diamond Penne Pasta

homebrand crunchy peanut butter (made in China  you can afford the upgrade to Aussie made)

Eta Spuds Ripple Cut Chicken flavour \:D/

Lupi Olive Oil

Harraways rolled oats

Molenberg toast bread

North's White toast bread

Tip Top goody gum drop ice cream

Milk

Moro, 60g

For protein/$1 in descending order (you want at least 24g/$1)

homebrand crunchy peanut butter

Diamond Penne Pasta

Sun Rice long grain white rice

Nutratech nutrawhwey unflavoured (complete protein)

Eggs (complete protein)

Molenberg toast bread

No animals were harmed in the making of 9kgs lean gains.

The key is buying at the right price and doing a little math to make sure you're getting the most for your money. With a little practise it becomes second nature.

Is peanut butter really 24g protein/dollar??!

Yup and then some. At $2.49 for 375g container you get about 95g of protein so 38.3g protein per dollar. 925 calories per dollar too. Nailing 120g-180g of the stuff every work day and some days 50g in oats probably had a lot to do with my results. It would be nice if the jar were a hell of a lot bigger though

Chur!

Looking back, I just assumed mince and such couldn't compare so didn't even bother looking. I reckon it is worth buying the 10% fat beef mince on special as you can make a million different dishes and once you've added kidney beans and cans of tomato stuff you end up with plenty of dinners ready to reheat. Serve with bread or rice and you're away \:D/

I would say that the one bad thing about my diet was it was not diverse so there is the risk of becoming deficient in some micronutrients. Taking a multi and a cup or two of frozen mixed veges prolly helped and cans of Dole fruit salad in syrup (not juice) make frequent appearances.

Time now for 1/2 litre of goody gum drop ice cream and watching cartoons
