Hello !  I am moving from the UK to the CHCH area in the next month or so. I hold 2 x World Powerlifting Titles , 5 x World Bench Titles and 2 x World Bench Records.  I am looking for somewhere decent to train. Needs plenty of Iron, Olympic Discs up to 25 & 50Kg.... Cranford Street, Papanui, Town Centre type area.  Should be training 3 or 4 times a week depending on my workload.  Best Bench was 250Kg at 123.4 BW & 255 at 134BW, I had to lose a lot of weight and strength to make the grade for the emigration Medical and will be looking to gain back some serious muscle.  I hope to do a comp again within 6 months ?   Can you help me out with a decent place to train ?  Thanks   Mr T

Hello Major Flavaz !

Nothing special there - never managed over 295 Kg in the Sq or Dl,  I snapped my LH Biceps Femoris in 2008 - it took 6 months of hard work to get back into comp standard, I've ruptured an Umbilical Henria 3 times.....burst my appendix on one of those occasions too !   At my age I probably wont be able to get over 280 ish in comp ?  I would love to spend the rest of my life walking - not in a wheelchair !!!!    Knees and spine kinda hurt !

If I was hoping to Bench only, in a comp - quite often I would do token lifts in the full power to get points for the GB Team.  To me Powerlifting is a Team Sport, I am a qualified Personal Trainer nad BDFPA Ref, but my chits are well out of date.  The knowledge is all there though, if someone needs a coach for a comp and I am not working (you guys will all know about the 3 month trial on new contracts !!) I would love to help out !!!

Any info on a good gym in CHCH ?  Cheers
