East Aucklander -New Gym??

Hey I am a long-time reader, first-time poster on the forum.

I have a gym member for about 5 years, been taking a more serious approach to strength training for about a year.

I have been very happy at my gym so far. But as staff have changed and my schedule there is no-one who can spot me when doing bench press etc.

I would like to know any recommendations of a gym in the Eastern suburbs of Auckland where membership is a reasonable price and staff is friendly/willing to spot on bench press. Also maybe a gym which is more oriented towards building strength as I have a few personal goals and would like to work out in an environment where I can get some good advice to maybe help me move forward.

Maybe try benching in the power cage setup the safety rails then you won't need a spotter.

hey man welcome to the forum

is the gym completely empty when you're there? if there are other people try asking around and seeing if a member there can spot you. you'll be surprised, most people will not say no as it's a cool interaction to make with someone in a gym as well as we all realise it can be important for safety. in saying that though, i dunno what time you go in at? if someone is doing squats on the other side of the gym then maybe he will be less likely to agree to spot for bench but give it a shot or maybe talk about becoming gym buddies so you guys workout the same thing each day, can encourage each other if so inclined and give/get spots

all else fails, you've got the power racks or consider working with dumbbells

Thanks for that Fellowshipoftheron. Training time is usually early morning or after lunch. I have been asking a few people here and there to spot me as I NEVER bench without someone spotting me. Most of the time people are happy to help but I don't want to always intrude on their workout time.

I think I also am just looking for a bit of a change of scenery
