Well he doesn't compete in the IFBB so it would depend if he ever wanted to swap federations. But yeah, I reckon he could make pro in the IFBB for sure. As for top 10 olympia, not right now but he definitely has the goods to get there one day IMO.

Great Bber but not O material.

Agreed, you have to have a flawless/near flawless physique steve does have a few draw backs like his midsection IMO.

Definitely a great bodybuilder, no doubt he could do well as a IFBB Pro if he wanted to go to that federation.

Aware hes a nabba competitor just hypothesising  . As far as drawbacks go is his waist too wide? judging by the midsections of this years Arnold competitors im not sure what to think

Does Steve Orton remind anyone else of Ben Pakulski?

Yeah - I was say this to someone the other day - I think its the legs that do it. Steve has a lot more time to refine his physique and tbh the Olympia is the top title but the arnold pays very well and there are other shows that offer good sums. He'd have a better than most kiwi pro career if he continues with the same momentum ... and assuming he ever switches to IFBB.

Challenge is - if you live in NZ its not a simple 2-3hour drive to a show that pays $3500 etc - so sponsors and individuals needed to make it viable I suspect.

I think with the NZ Pro show being re-installed into next year IFBB roster here in NZ it will create more opportunity though.

With all due respect to Steve I think you guys are barking up the wrong tree.

There are 1000s of guys out there who are big and freaky but never make it because they lack the aesthetics to be a top pro.

Yeah agree - but if he's the one up on stage then why not. If those guys never show then wont he get the recognition?

Its hard to explain but some guys just have that look. Either you do or you don't, you can't make yourself look like it.

Some guys look like their body is struggling to hold onto the mass that they have, they may be massive but they aren't "pretty" and look purely gear induced. They look like they are just abusing huge amounts of drugs.

Some guys suit the mass that they have and look good, they don't look like they are struggling to stay at the size they are, it looks almost effortless. To be serious Olympia material you have to fall into this category.

Lol maybe you guys should see his teenage photos and see how hard it is for him to hold mass....... freakshow at a young age.

As for the masses of gear comments. .....trolol at best kids.

Haters always gonna hate......

Btw Branch Warren aint looking effortless. ...in fact I'd say Phil Heath is about the only one who does

Well Moe made it to the olympia. Was he really that far ahead of Steve orton?

yes

Agree when Moe was at Olympia, but definitely not at age 23.....I think people forget it tskes time to build a complete physique, and time is on Steves side (unlike us old bastards!).

Yeap hes only 23 by the time he reaches his late 20s who knows could win a overall amateur world tittle or 2 which none of our NZ pros have ever acheived

Jo Stewart has .... No longer Pro but she has. And Diana Flynn (Personal Trainer at Club Physical Albany) Won the Natural Olympia (Figure) contest 9 years ago. She has a genuine Olympia medal in her closet  also not pro ... And from memory - Naera Johnson (Also PT @ CP Albany) has also won a world champs.

Quite abit of hate on Steve's physique

Are there any other photos from weekend?

To me and I'm no judge or expert but from that photo and last years comp he looks amazing

Thick and shit loads of muscle

Moe is / was the best in NZ as he made Olympia stage but to me Steve looks a shit load better than Darryn Onekawa now but maybe that's just me not being a fan of Darryns look.

Justin Rhys is the only other NZ freak at that age of 23 or so and Justin was never a pleasing physique but a freak and had potential but as we know things happened and his physique got ruined

Steve has years and looks the goods

Steve is great, Kagan is also.

Top 10 Olympia, no.

Agreed - neither would make Top 10 in Olympia at present.

But this thread is about potential to, so realistically who knows? :?

I can confidently say 95%+ of the guys we see on stage in NZ would never make it to a top 10, as for Steve (and Kagan), hard to know, maybe time will tell.
