Pigeon

Yes. Bleed AND defeather as soon as slaughtered.

- Cut off head and majority of the legs, as most of the meat you'll want to be eating will come from the breast and back. (Although this is just personal preference as I find pigeon legs hideous to look at)

- Season by rubbing in Paprika, taragon and some garlic salt.

- Roast it, pick/slice off meat and throw the carcass in a pot of boiling water with some other ingredients to create stock for your next meal.

Don't cook the meat for too long. You'll kill all the nutritious parasites.

my brother and his mates were stoned in the bush once and according to them, shot a pigeon, took it back to the house and chucked it in the deep fryer.

Those pigeons in the bush are native birds lol.

They are bigger though and tastier no doubt, prob how the Maoris who live out bush stay fat who don't have access to undersized paua.

wood pidgeon, tsk tsk.. naughty naughty..

Im not sure why they are still protected. Areas I hunt in there are plenty. As a youngster over 20 years ago now, living in the bush possum hunting, if other meat was scarce ate wood pidgeon. Yummy..

Although there were usually eel, deer, trout or pig or other meat sources available. But they were a good back stay if there was nothing else for the pot..

Never tried tame ones though. Cant see there being much difference.
