Powerlifting specific gyms

Hey guys I am looking for a powerlifting gym in South Auckland, I have been training at a powerlifting gym prior to arriving in NZ and am not interested in fighting over squat racks with those doing curls. Does any one have any suggestions ?

Nothing really. ...NZs too small for that other than a handful scattered throughout the big centres. Best bet down Sth Auckland would be Genetics Gym (Mangere?) or Miada (Otahuhu). Maybe some smaller clubs but nothing I'm aware of - you could try emailing the Auckland Powerlifting Assn or CAPO NZ and asking.

Miada Gym Otahuhu is ya best bet

miada otahuhu will be best bet. Dbs up to 80kg lots of benches, racks and at there is a good range of machines too. Price is pretty cheap compared to other gyms.

very nice. They have there own SM team? or is that very old? i saw some (old?) pics of it on there facebook page, with there SM team etc.. so im guessing they have the equipment im after.

Gonna pop in sometime this week to check it out.

Miada Otahuhu is definately a go. I train there and find Audra (lady to call for memberships) is super helpful. Dale the owner is a champion SM himself and has just been renovating the whole place. Not sure if there is a current SM team operating out of Miada Otahuhu but chat to Dale when you can get hold of him. Used to train at Genetics and had to argue with weedy knobs about what a squat rack was actually for.

Miada is a great gym with great equipment and heaps of friendly members willing to spot.

i was doing some research on the gym, i just googled it and then i found out all these negative things about the owner....

there's multiple threads on this forum dissing him, and then this is put the icing on the cake when i found this article about his "rage" problems..

Dale is the man bro as long as you adhere to the gym rules you will have no issues
