IFBB Auckland Show

Recommended Posts

Went along to the IFBB show up in Auckland last night. Was some impressive competitors and some that look like they didn't do much prep for the show.

No one was particularly shredded, the leanest competitors were probably in the physique class which I'm not particularly a fan of the posing is very similar to that of the bikini.

The bikini class was great especially the pro division  I didn't agree with the placings at all though. I think the chick from Perth in the red bikini (number 5) should have placed a head of Jade she looked far to skinny and have no real shape.

Also in the armature bikini short class I think the chick in the yellow bikini should have placed much higher than fourth she was amazing!

There were a lot of divisions including something called classic bodybuilding..???? Apparent they look for a more classic look..???

Meet Tony Freeman in person great guy very humble. Unfortunately didn't get to meet Kai in person but seem him posing on stage at apparently 145kg  looked insanely massive never seen something like that in my life. Hes legs were simply massive and his posing routine was entertaining. He spoke a few words after his routine but seemed to be absolutely exhausted after his posing routine. I would imagine moving around 145kg of muscle would be difficult.

Kenny also looked good but doesn't seem to be very tight on hes side poses especially in the core but has definitely made a lot of improvements to his physique since last year, a promising athlete. He looked like a child when posing with Kai, but then again who wouldn't!

Here's a video of Kai Greenes guest posing

Yeah Perth girl had shape but local always gets a placing here in NZ....it's a given

Good show was short on good bodybuilders, Kenny looks like a Nationals winner and Pro soon too.

I like Kai, but thought he had too much Synthol in his biceps this time, it was crazy shape was in first row next to video guy so had the best seat behind judges and it was too much. Brb online shopping at Synthol.com

Saw people getting healed on stage thought I was at a Destiny Church gathering but was just X-Pain, funny segment had to b there!

Overall a good night of light entertainment, George Farrah and Kai this afternoon

They had the physique, classic bodybuilding and normal bodybuilding....

Physique is more of less judged on abdominal development IMO at least it seemed that way.

Yeah classic bodybuilding is more judged on conditioning I think.

what an awesome show last night. best show ive ever seen in NZ. kenny dropped jaws I personally think he is looking like a pro now and i think any other guy in NZ at am level will have a hard time beating him at nats.. dont really agree that he wasnt tight from the side but thats just my opinion..

pro bikini was great, def showed the next level with girls like Nicole etc. was also cool to see a pro cardgiven out to jade mckinnon.

Tony freeman had an awesome routine and seems like a real nice guy. same with kai n george. went to the seminar tonight and met them all again.

good times

the fact that you think the girl in yellow should have placed higher shows how much you know about the bikini class - she was simply the best looking girl with an amazing ass. (shes a friend, and such a nice girl who will go far in this game as she progresses - but shes new)

She didnt have the conditioning that you need for bikini.

Physique judged on abs? did you see 2nd 3rd and 4th? its about far more than that.

No hate on you brah, i saw you there too - based on your posts you seem like a cool dude but you dont really have much idea what you're talking about! (again, no hate<3)

Your right I have no idea what bikini and mens physique are judged on... was just my opinion.

What is men's physique judged on?

So do they have physique AND classic now? And both are going for the more athletic look? So what's IFBB calling the standard "big" class now if not physique? I can't keep up. :P

IFBB have always had Mens Classic (well at least since I started competing in 2008).

My best interpretation of it is like a bodybuilder without the dense muscle. They still want large v-taper, but it's more of the old school classic look, a bodybuilder with a thin waist and not large over-powering legs or massive delts.

Yeah athletic class maybe, but NABBA athletic can be pretty muscular imo.

The BodyBuilding class is the new class in IFBB. The men's model class became Physique class, so Physique became the BodyBuilder class....I think

The new class has really opened up the popularity of the sport and you can see a whole new crowd of faces at the events. It''s given the average gym-goer something to aim for and NABBA and WFF will likely follow suit with similar classes.

Many are not 100% sure what they're looking for in Men's Physique yet but at the show the winners were the best of their classes so judging seems fair and consistent so far.

Bikini class on the other hand, there were a few girls with short legs for their upper body (genetics I know they can't help it! but it looks weird someone should tell them) and they placed pretty well, far higher than I'd give them so my knowledge is short on judging LOL...maybe it helps them power thru the sand or something.

But the girl in green that stole the show had a the cutest tightest ass you ever saw. She'll need implants if she wants to go further which is where the men's and women's classes differ....a guy can build more muscle, a girl can't build more boobs and shape without implants.

Still my attention span for Bikini class is quite long, why?...can't quite put my finger on it

Well now that we've got the usual stuff out of the way (TLAF's nuthugging, Tom's sarcastic comment, Androids indepth analysis, comments insinuating dodgy placings etc) someone tell us the actual results!

Seriously who placed where?

I would have liked to gone and watched but life intervened!

Good effort by Moe & the team getting the big names over here, good for the sport all around. How did the seminars go? Particularly interested in Farah's comments.

hahahaha.

umm from what i remember..

kenny won open 90-100 and overall

Kristian bray won open men 100+

80-90 was won by soe short stocky asian guy ive never seen before, looked crazy was def best in the show after kenny.

Wael won mens physique over Paul K.

Jade Mckinnon won overall bikini over Noor (green bikini). (sorry i dont know all of the surnames)

i think 4 athletes are being sent to a show in Tahiti in August.

seminar was good. thing i found most interesting was george farrahs idea on protein. he doesnt recommend much at all and i think he has Kai on 250g atm, kai is 145 kg and in serious shape.

All new names!

Well done to melody who trains at my gym, she leaned up pretty quickly compared to what she was. Propz.

she looked hot that night....could have sworn she was my mate's training partner at CP in K'Rd, at least that's what he told me

Interesting about george farah, ive always advocated no more than 1.6-1.7g per kg of bw. Based on studies showing no difference in protei synthesis between the constant infusion of amino acids and a few bolus doses of aminos. Then you have the substrate requirement for amino acids for growth and repair. Of course, this drew ridicule from the less informed on this forum, so its good to see someone in the pro ranks with some common sense and not just trying to sell protein powder to those people who take their word as gospel. Would be interested to hear what else he had to say?

george did say he increases protein pre comp tho. he lowers it off season to give the kidneys a break. after he got shot he has like half a kidney left so he said he has to be very careful of how much stress he puts them under.. as most people know hes a fan of cycling protein so after a show etc he has just under 1g per lbs of BW and most common directly from amino acids.

pretty sure kai said he is having 8 ounces of meat per meal and i think thats about 250g? so roughly 50g protein per meal X i dont know how many.
