Miss Muscles are you a NABBA NAC Official? If so do you know if the federation are stratically moving away from prmoting "true" bodybuilding? Unusua to see an aathletic class guy (as good as Andrew is) & a shape girl ( & no doubts on how good Jess is) only on posters? I know Mens (and to a lesser degree Womens Physique) was pretty weak in most shows last year but surely Mateo, Helen & Giselle etc should be featuring?

So according to you I'm not a "true" bodybuilder

LOL - I wouldn't say that at all, sorry if you inferred that! I know how hard you work at creating the physique you have, just as I've seen figure girls, glamour class competitors and more recently "mens physique" or boardshort class.

Probably more accurately I should have used the word "traditional" rather than true.

I respect athletes in all the classes as I've seen awesome work ethics and results across all these classes. I happen to be focused mainly on tradional mens and womens bodybuilding though, so really would only pay to see a show featuring this rather than it being an after thought. Again, Mateo, Giselle, Helen etc deserve the respect of being featured on the posters imho

Nate you will find that the athletic competitors have much much better conditioning than the physique guys in a lot of the NABBA-NAC shows so will prefer to show their higher caliber athletes on posters.

That's IMO though.

It's seems your got a real dig on NABBA-NAC though...

Yeah I guess so Jimmy but it is actually called bodybuilding isn't it?

I actually think their athletic guys could've won their physique classes in most shows last year (very serious  ).

I have no real issue with NABBA-NAC, and support their shows like any other federation with a some of my friends/peers competing there (I have also always wanted to do their Hawkes Bay show too  ). The numbers of competitors they get at their shows is good, but as I mentioned the "traditional" mens class was weak last year (though I know a few good competitors stepping on stage for NABBA-NAC this year). I guess I think they should be supporting this rather than letting it wane.

As an aside I do think it would be clearer for all if Jim Pitt retired, Peter Hardwick carried on running the INBA shows, and we had one NABBA that was aligned with the International NABBA body. As for the NAC affiliation I don't know if anyone really cares about that do they?

I think New Zealand is to small to have all these federations TBH.

Most of the higher level physique guys compete in NABBA-WFF and NZFBB. Don't know why but it appears to be the case.

I do think NABBA-NAC is letting a lot of people compete at international shows that shouldn't really be doing so. Just my opinion though.

Unusual to see an aathletic class guy (as good as Andrew is) & a shape girl ( & no doubts on how good Jess is) only on posters?

Do you think so? I won't takes sides on which class is the "right" class for the poster, but I'm pretty sure I've seen other posters also featuring the athletic guys? Probably across different organisations too, although I can't be sure of that.

I don't have time to look right now, but Muscle Imaging has all the event posters going back years... it would be interesting for someone to do a count up and see.

I have thought this too - looking at some of the aesthetic guys coming through into competition (Christchurch event). They guys moving into competition appear to be a bit bigger though than the traditional FB fit bod. (may be a trend brought on as a result of competition??

It's only because we look so bloody good!!

Are you athletic?! ... you do look like you would more than hold your own in a physique/bodybuilding class (not sure what they call it anymore lol),

Athletic has a weight restriction Height (cm) - 100 + 2 = Allowable BW it is judged the same on physique but less on size and more on conditioning.

Physique doesn't have weight restrictions.

Andrew looks like a physique competitor in the athlete he must have tiny bones or something ! Wicked shape and monstrous chest.

Did a quick look on muscle imaging - mainly had NABBA NAC & NABBA-WFF posters with only NZIFBB ones from 3 years ago (so did a very quick scan of gofigure/nzifbb website).

Results for what I could find over last 3 years were:

NABBA NAC - features physique M or W (and/or others) 22, no physique 6

NABBA-WFF - features physique M or W (and/or others) 9, no physique 1

NZIFBB - features physique M or W (and/or others) 4, no physique 0

INBA - features physique M or W (and/or others) 5, no physique 0

Pretty incomplete really, only really trend was that Mateo seems to be the poster boy for 50% of posters!
