Inglewood gym and training partners

Hi,

I'm looking at stepping my training up to a more serious endeavour. I have been training at home for about 4 years on and off now but have still not made any significant progress due to incorrect dieting and not being able to lift heavy enough and/or to failure.

Time to join a gym.

I've heard nothing but good things about Inglewood Gym, so that will likely be my choice. I will join within the next month.

Next question, spotters and training partners... Ideally I could find someone with a similar schedule (I am self-employed) and similar goals (bodybuilding, 4 day split HIT) and have a training partner. If this is not possible, how are people on spotting each other at gyms? Do they have power cages in Inglewood as to be able to lift without a spotter?

Any insights would be hugely appreciated.

Cheers,

Harrie

Gidday Harrie. I think you'll find joining a gym far more motivating than training at home - especially if you can train at times when the gym is pumping.

Just in case no-one from Inglewood sees your post for a while, I thought I'd say don't be afraid to ask a PT or gym member for a spot. In fact, that's probably the best way to find a permanent training partner.

Agree with Pseudonym.

I was working on and off at home for a few years with no major gains. Joining the gym gave me a lot more motivation, both workout wise and also theory wise. I find myself going home most nights after the gym and reading different fitness/diet articles lol.

Also, like Pseudonym said - Asking for a spot is a great way to meet new training partners. Most people are more than happy to spot between their sets. Just don't ask someone while they're mid-set.

Awesome, thanks.

I'll just go it alone then, initially. I probably need a little time to get up to full intensity anyway, so wouldn't want to be holding anyone up.

And I totally understand the "no talking mid-set" rule. This is one of the reasons I want to join a gym too - it's a good way to not be interrupted while working out.
