isotretinoin's impacts on muscle building?

I was recently prescribed isotretinoin to get rid of my acne, I'm 18 now, had been lifting and in the weights room for almost 3 years. I'm wondering about the effects it could have on my future gains, and other hormone levels.

Is there anyone that could provide me any information about isotretinoin's impacts. I am already aware about the liver, but the GP didn't talk to me about anything else related to gym and said that they didnt know about any other impacts to building muscle.

Cheers :)

So what sort of things are you suggesting when you say "be careful of your joints", TLAF? What's likely to be the problem, and what can he do to avoid/fix it?

I did a course of oratane about 2 years ago,and i managed to stuff something behind my knee, which made leg curls painful as to do.

Im only guessing that the isotretinoin had played a part in that injury.

It took near 1.5 years before the pain went.

At the time i was pushing more weight than i was able to.

(stronger training partner),

So i think as long as your not pushing too heavy of a weight that youd be ok?

I have only just finished a short 6 weeks on oratane,3 days ago, and i havnt had any problems at all this time, but im not pushing past failure any more.

Train hard but dont go too hard....

it might be a bit harsh on the joints since it might dry them but I never got that, the side effects I got were bloody nose/dry lips...the doctor said being on it might of halted the healing process of my shoulder...but she also got me to read about something (forgot what it's called) it's basically when your body starts growing more bones! (inb4 Naruto fans) might explain why they suspected a bone spur in my shoulder

What causes the joint problems? And are we sure it's related to isotretinoin? Possibly due to the skin oils? Maybe joint oils are effected as well? Or what could be causing the issue? Could there be any joint medication I could possibly get my hand on to try fix the problem?

And also, any overly hard and heavy training would cause the joint problems wouldn't it? Possibly not even related to isotretinoin? Although I have been reading a lot about it and it does seem that it is a factor that often comes up with people on it.

Thanks for the info so far guys, would really want to narrow down causes and solutions for this joint issue if anyone knows anything that could help further or where to find more info? :) cheers
