Steroids in high schools

Recommended Posts

wow, never thought about that before but it's highly possible there's a lot of orals available that would appeal to first-time users. High-school 1st and 2nd XV is competitive and now that rugby is a high-paying profession I can see the attraction in a kid that isn't mature enough to consider all consequences.

I doubt that it would be "prevalent" in the schools though...would be a shame if it was. Trouble is, once one kid takes it and stands out as bigger, leaner, faster, stronger then without question others follow :?

A while ago now but when my mate was at high school he trained with guys who were using steroids. They went on to play sport an the international level.

This must have been some 15 years ago and with accessability and rewards at the top level both being so much higher it's pretty easy to see there being plenty of teams where it is prevelant.

Until we have a situation like the young baseball kid in the US who commited suicide and sent his father on a frothing anti-steroids campaign I don't think the extent of it will come to light.

this thing really pissed me off, depression/whatever was just as likely to have killed his kid as steroids.. the two probably weren't good alongside each other but if he wasnt depressed he probably wouldn't have killed himself, the parents probably just want anything to blame to avoid the fact that they probably didnt notice there was something wrong with him (i guess any parent would look to blame something though..)

Yep it's a really frustrating story. The kid and parents have no responsibility because steroids dun it.

or

Depressed kid being treated with SSRIs - the ones with suicidal ideation as a side effect and not clinically effective in less than severe depression. If we then guess cycling of steroids with poor/no PCT it's pretty easy to imagine the kind of mess in his head.

Parents feel bad but can blame and get angry at a straw man as the only possible cause of his death. The father is perfectly content with the number of deaths caused by alchohol because it's legal. Steroids are bad because they are illegal. Steroids are illegal because they are bad. hmmkay. Tragic outcome but poor reasoning going on there. Perfect for the media though which is why I'm terrified we have that happen here. Steroids have more than enough stigma and lack of understanding as it is.

I don't think people take them in High School.

Maybe Clen and T3 but most are shit scared of injectables. They might take Dbol or winny tabs though I guess.

Its not ready a drug readily available in high school I would have thought, rec drugs are though.

most kids dont know what to do with them for now but you can tell it's becoming more mainstream. with all these 'sexiest teenager' things on social network sites along with the aesthetic movement gaining notoriety all one needs to do is set up some sources and the thing will take off in the school like a bush fire. i've got some some nephews and cousins on FB (in high schools from the north shore through to west auckland areas) and noticed there is an increasing trend going on, many of their mates using the lingo 'riding bicycles/talking about self injecting flu shots(wtf?)' etc. as well as posting up very jacked looking photos of them selves. definitely a cause for concern considering most of these people are taking big risks (unknowingly) for only the sake of vanity

A friend of mine was an U18 Northland rugby rep, he amongst many of the team were strongly advised to, and did, use gear to "bulk up". You've got your head in the sand if you think it's not widely used in NZ by young athletes.

InB4 strong post to above users post ratio lol.

I doubt this..... maybe he ment like creatine etc

Lol, creatine doesn't come in vials in injectable form. He was using test e! He carried a lot of bodyfat but was playing at around 115kg in U18.

End of the day bro rugby and any sports involving a certain skill set like soccer basketball league etc etc will need Natural gifted abilities of skill, technique judgment mental and physical "toughness" any idiot on the juice isnt gona just run on the field and waste everyone just coz hes on gear...think of the 125kg NATURAL Polys cruising round on just taro bulk and fucking dudes up and they have better technique and skill so reall gear will do really little if not nothing if the person is not already naturally gifted

True.

But

When a guy is competing for a spot on the team and the other guy looking good for the spot has similar skill, technique, judgment, mental and physical "toughness" the first guy will look for the edge in strength and speed. Going pro pays a lot better than a lot of alternatives.

Motivation is so strong to get a spot and to do well in the position that it's crazy not to use PEDs. This ain't the 70's where All Blacks returned from tour to manage the farm or practice law. This is pro time.

It may or may not be out there. We can't assume anything.

People don't walk around advertising it anymore than they do if smoking crack. The signs may be there, but no way to prove it.

If we use, we will assume anyone with mass or definition is also on. If we don't we will asume others in good shape are naturals too. just a thought.
