Steroids in Mexico

Recommended Posts

I spent Christmas and New Year in Mexico, where steroids are legal. But don't get too excited - these are clearly targeted towards the American tourists. They swarm off their massive cruise ships in their thousands, shouting "OMG! I can buy steroids without breaking the law!" And the Mexicans rip them off accordingly. :D

Although there are orals around, mostly the choice was between different brands of testosterone. They're all pre-loaded syringes, 250mg a shot - no multi use vials here. That's good for sterility, but not so great for bringing it home. Passing through customs with dozens of pre-loaded syringes would probably see you get a few probing questions (if not the probe itself).

Anyway, it amused me to take photos of all the gift shops that doubled as pharmacies. Enjoy.

And finally, just in case you'd left it to the very last minute, for your ultimate convenience in the airport departure lounge...

Just like Thailand, it's an eye opener ay lol

I believe it's like this in a lot of poorer countries where paying to see a doctor who in new zealand would give a diagnosis then prescribe a medicine accordingly is out of the question.

In these types of countries the public just self diagnose and self prescribe themselves.

And if you look at statistics abuse of prescription medicines such as anti depressants and all the usual abused ones the problems are much lower I these countries in compassion to America and other nations where they are much harder to get hold of.

Quite interesting

Tom - I believe Mexico has recently changed the rules so that pharmacies can only sell certain medications with a doctor's prescription. I imagine testosterone would be in that category too. But... this is Mexico, and what the law says, and what actually happens can be very very different.

Chemo - I did work out the prices at the time, and it all seemed quite expensive. Based on a dose of 500mg/week (the pre-loaded syringes mean you don't have a lot of choice here) I think prices ranged from around NZ$300-600 for a 12 week cycle, depending on brand. And good luck trying to find any anti-estrogens to go with that!

Azide - they seemed to be pharmaceutical brands, but I didn't recognise any of them. All the shops stocked the same brands though. Mostly the products seemed to be blends of different esters, creating their own versions of Sustanon.

You would have to be wary of the product given the wording on some of the signage. Its interesting to note that when I first became interested in AAS about 20+ yrs ago, the biggest suppliers into the US was from Mexico. I don't believe there was hardly a UG Lab in the US. All discussion on the forums was about Mexican & European drugs. Over the years this has changed & China now accounts for the vast majority of product mainly in raw form which is used by some Pharmaceutical companies & the majority of UG Labs countries like the US Aust & NZ to manufacture gear & other "interesting concoctions". It can come via different countries...India, Thailand, Pakistan, Turkey & the gamut of Eastern European countries, but I believe the bulk of compounds stem from China.

The US eventually tightened up on imports of gear out of Mexico & the FDA & other drug agencies hammered out the labs systematically & what now seems to be left is a bunch of illegal operations producing dodgy under dosed gear & suspect pharmaceuticals under random generic names that no respectable AASer would even contemplate using.

Great pics Andrew.
