Ideal Goal Bodywieght

Hi guys,

Throwing this out there to get some feedback on goals, and what looks good at what height.

I'm currently 84kg at 6'2" (189cm), 13% BF.

My aim this year is to get down to 8% and then maintain that consistently, as well as getting my bodyweight up to a level that I'm happy with my size, I'm thinking somewhere between 90 and 95kg.

I'm aware everyone puts on muscle in different ways and looks different because of that. But, can anyone give you a general idea of what a good goal would be to get a fitness model level of size, not after super huge, but like a good amount of size.

I've attached a pic of where I'm am atm, which should give you a rough idea. Sorry no leg shots, but I've got some pretty good size in my quads, hammies, and glutes.

Nice job sofar

At 6ft 2 and with your small- medium kind of frame i think a lean 90kg is achievable naturally, will take years of hard work, especialy if you want to maintain 8%. If you want a fitness model look, you may have to aim to end up around that 6-7% bf and a kilo or two lighter. Im no expert though

Good luck

Different people have different goals, Danny. I'm starting to think that slowly bulking while staying ripped is the way to go - even at 12%, big just makes me look fat unless I'm flexing.

I'd agree with Ninja's numbers. But there are so many variables it's impossible to say for sure. Even things like where your body prefers to store its fat will make a huge difference to how lean you need to get (if you're wearing shorts, it's ok if you store fat in your legs!)

Anyway, if it helps, I'm 6'0" and this time last year I was 86kg at 6%. You may want to be bigger/leaner/whatever, but hopefully that gives you an idea. :)

Thanks for the replies guys.

Looking really good Pseudo. That kind of size is about where I'm aiming at actually so really good to get some pics and stats on about where that level is.

As i'm not really building up to competing or anything (though the thought is getting a bit more tempting) I want to try and get to something I'm happy with and keep it there. I don't see much point in only being happy with my image for a couple of weeks each year between bulks. :D

I'm currently following the Lean Gains (Martin Berkham, www.leangains.com) approach to intermittent fasting and really liking it. It seems to be working for me, I'm still getting fat loss, while at the same time building strength and getting muscle size gain. Perhaps not as fast as a straight out bulk, but enough to be happy with.

I think I'm going to set my end of year goals as below.

Current weight 84kg, BF 13%, lean mass 73kg

End Jun. goal 87kg, BF 10%, lean mass 78.3kg, plus 5.3kg

End Dec. goal 91kg, BF 8%, lean mass 83.7kg, plus 5.4kg

Would this kind of change be achievable?

If you went on steroids, yes. You want to put on 11kgs of muscle while losing fat. Not likely if you're natty bro.

What would a more reasonable (but still challenging) level of gains be over that time?

Realistically your current weight @ 8% by dec would be a decent effort. I've gone from 78kg @ 10% to 83kg @ 8-9% in the last 12 months training hard and consistantly. I wasn't lean bulking though I was 95kg when I started cutting

How are you findin the lean gains method? I looked at it but the training workload seems way too light?

I don't follow the lean gains training methods, you can see my current workout split on this post:

As a diet/life style I really like it. I love being able to eat until I'm full to bursting during the feeding stages and not having to worry about breakfast in the morning does wonders for the 15 min extra sleep I want.

It really comes into it's own when you're wanting to cut. I makes maintaining a calorie deficit a breeze, you go to bed full after your last meal, wake up feeling great, then only start to get hungry about 10-11am, at which stage I just have a black coffee, then head to the gym at 12 and break the fast immediately after it.
