belts for support

That depends, do you feel you need a belt? Do you ever plan on doing powerlifting competitions?

I was at very similar lifts to you when I first started using a belt, and it made a huge difference for me. Even wearing a belt very loose so I don't get much support from it but it helps cue me to properly use my abs helps me a lot. For that reason alone I would recommend at least trying one and then deciding if you want to buy one. Using a belt will not inhibit you developing your lower back at all. It doesn't decrease muscle activation, the belt doesn't take over the work from your lower back or anything.

You don't necessarily need one at all, but it's a nice option to have, especially for the heavier work and for setting PRs.

Wear a belt. There is no good reason not to wear one. I see guys doing sets with out a belt all of the time. What is benefit I ask? You could have got an extra rep or 2 if you wore a belt so why wouldn't you?

In terms of how to use, I tend to use on my last warm up and then my top set.

For example:

60 kg x10 no belt

100 kg x5 no belt

120 kg x3 belt

140 kg x5 belt

The reason is that I like to feel the difference the belt makes in my last warm up before my top set.
