I survived crossfit fight gone bad....barely

so I am trying Crossfit for something different at a Crossfit place in welly, I have been doing my on ramp (intro training) sessions and they decided it was time for me to do a benchmark workout.

OMG! I really thought I was going to collapse wow, but it was good once I was done, and I am really really diggin crossfit!!

I am going to stick with it I think, I love the varied workouts and this place in welly is quite new and they are very very nice people.

Well done!

I also decided to give CrossFit a try, as much to get some variety into the training over the summer, and like you, once you get into their mindset, it's a fun way to work like hell....

Plus, I've already done a couple of 1RM sessions which have come real close to my competition-best lifts, so there is a lot of cross-over.

thank you, ya recovery has always been a tough one for me, my rest days I think, oh I can do a little bit of something, but I know I should not.

I really really like it, I fear though that if my trainer was not there pushing me and counting and egging me on I would have tapped out and I dont want to do that.

I am supposed to do another circuit session at lunch at work tomorrow but I am not so sure I be ready and I know I need to listen to my body.

one thing that has helped me was a heart monitor I am wearing, I think it helps me know when to pull back and when to push.

lol lol omg man, Stevia is HORRIBLE stuff, my Nutritionist has been trying to get me off the raw sugar for my coffee and back on to Stevia but I refuse.

I have given up almost everything else I love, pasta, rice, potatos, bread most dairy but my morning coffee is sacred, I tried and used Stevia for 3 months and hated it so much I simply gave up coffee, but coffee is one of my few food pleasures in life and I am keeping it and my sugar, so fook off Mr Nutritionist, you're a good man but leave my coffee be...

I dont even eat things like Kapiti or other similar ice creams anymore, I will eat Zilch ice cream which is good enough for me.

I have been talking via email with Chris over at Crossfit Kapiti and I am going in for a look see next week as it seems they are off to a comp in Napier this weekend, It kind of looks like a warehouse gym from the website, but I will go give it a proper look next week and have a chat with them.

Mean bro good on ya, everyone is loving the CF or circuit type training at the moment. It's not a fad and is only gonna get bigger.

ya I think so too, having said that I think that a lot of people will put this kind of workout in the too hard basket. I am really trying hard to push through that pain barrier but its really difficult but I certainly dont want to tap out.

No stevia its crap.... But yes I often make Paleo ice cream using coconut cream, eggs honey and what ever flavour I want at the time. Its not as smooth as shop brought ice cream, but good neather the less. I try and do mostly Paleo with a few added treats like tonight I'm eating a bag of lollies. I will use oats with breakfast but then when it stops unless its a cheat meal then its all over rover.

I too try to eat as clean as possible, but I do cheat sometimes like I had subway the other day when I was staving on the way home from work.

honestly though, at the moment I hate food, I really reallly hate having to watch every friggin thing eat and I really dont like a lot of the Paleo food, for me food is all about taste and I dont like the taste of a lot of that stuff.

if I could take a pill for my full dietary needs I would, I am at that point with food at the moment.

what exactly is paleo food? I know you can't have grains

whole unprocessed foods... so - meat, eggs, seafood, non-starchy vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds.

things with sugar, grains and polyunsaturated fats are considered evil.

So basically anything that can be hunted or gathered, and not food that’s processed, cultivated, or packaged on a shelf.

Although paleo isn't a low carb diet if u follow it properly it works out to be high in fat and low in carbohydrates. That's just the way it works out.

Carbs are a much better source of energy for physical exercise than fats. Just because you are doing functional (caveman) movements in crossfit doesn't mean u have to eat like one.

Personally I don't see why it has such a big following especiallt from crossfit community (they should be eating more CHO than anyone) and seems like the cool thing to do for people who don't have much idea on why they are doing it except that everyone else at the box is doing it. Contagious bullshit.

I personally don't follow it to the letter, as I still have butter and raw muesli for breakfast and I don't care. But I have found out that when I do east more of the traditional carbs like bread, pasta, and potatoes. I tend to not stop eating and I also want to eat more sugar then compared to when I cut them out.

But most of the time I follow the Paleo diet, it seams to suit me really well.

I cook paleo often, but love makign tortellini and dumplings from scratch too. Love those dumplings. Little balls of awesome.

Like having a partner... you get the good sex, but still jerk off when the fancy takes you.
