Did he cheat? Sure but so does everyone else at that level in cycling so you can't condemn him for that

Did he lie about it? Almost every one at his level in the same position have so you can't condemn him for that either

As SFS stated, at the top, drug free sport is merely an ideal. So what good would it do for cycling to make this even bigger than what it is. I don't support the decisions he made but I certainly understand his reasoning. Fact of the matter that 95% in the top 20 in the Tour would've been juicing every year and he still beat them. Cheapen it all you like, if they were all clean, he still would've

Thing is from what I'm hearing is that he used to pick on others that were caught doping, he used to give them shit. It's about time for him to come off of that high horse IMO.

i think more what he was doing was targetting people that spoke out about him. he was pretty agressive about it.

Did he fail a drug test during competition? Or was he busted during training or just word of mouth? Im not fully up with the game but I heard someone mention on the radio he was actually not busted during a competition.

Another good point the dude said is that Lance would know shit loads of dudes on drugs, so they should be carefull how badly they push him because he could spill the beans and give the public a good insight to what really goes on..

Not surprising that elite sport is full of drugs. OTC testing maybe effective in NZ but in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas it seems to lack credibility. Maybe it lacks credibility here.

The big issue here is corruption. If the cycling authorities turned a blind eye or worse still encouraged doping, this is a completely different issue. The uninformed public will go after this one.

I suspect that corruption in many sports is rife. I don't base this on anything other than speculation. There were rumours years ago in my own sport that sports administrators knowingly let some of the top guys lift enhanced. Again, speculation. If Armstrong coughs then this might see others do the same.

Another issue for me is why the f*ck would you want to compete against clean athletes if you were enhanced. I suppose the justification is that everyone is doing it. Imagine how gutted that poor bastard would be who cycled the Pryenees and wasn't on EPO! Maybe he didn't exist.

He cheated and should be prosecuted for that.

However getting the sport clean will be next to impossible IMO. Everyone is looking for the spot light and wanting to make a name for themselves. Why wouldn't people that put all there efforts into a particular sport (especially individual sports) take a little something to increasing their chances to be in the spot light.

Really at the end of the day I'm not sure why PED's are banned in sports.

I don't know about others but I want to see freaks on television smash records and be superhuman. If drug testing becomes more effective I would imagine a lot of sports will become a lot less interesting to watch.

Completley agree here sports played by professional athletes should be untested. End all the finger pointing and court cases etc. Seeing the biggest strongest fastest athletes is what sells and is what has the most entertainment value. If they dont want to put their bodys on the line for big money then dont become a pro athlete.

Lets say me and Tom are driving along and I'm pissed, we go thru a check point and when I get breath tested I blow under.

Then 10 years later toms driving home pissed, gets pulled over, breath tested - fails. Gets charged - then goes oh GF 10 years ago was drunk when you tested him n he passed I saw him consume the alcohol.

Then cops turn up and say hey give us ya license and see ya in court coz Toms a bit bitter he got caught n you didn't! Even though you didn't test positive for being drunk.

That would be fair right?

Maybe they could charge me 200 times for each test I passed.

The playing field is even in cycling - they are all on something, anyone who thinks otherwise probably still thinks that Santa is true & oh David Bain poor guy getting wrongly convicted.

I really don't care about the drugs. I think he is a prick because of the way he destroyed other people's reputations by playing the "oh I don't need drugs because I beat cancer so I can do anything" card.

F*ck him and his mum for f*cking his dad and having his megalomaniacal ass.

all you people saying hes a peice of shit for lying etc. he confessed to PED's, i guess that makes him better than the other pro cyclists (99% of them) that are denying their use. Also hes donated alot to charity, i dont know how u guys can call him a piece of shit lol

He confessed for a price and because he had no real choice. We would have other cyclists taken to court for accusing him of taking PED's and sue them.

He is a pretty low character to do that and tries to portray the "PC" imagine you describe to try pull the wool over others eyes. If you want to buy into good for you.

I'm all for untested competitions... that's where they should belong. I'd probably watch cycling if it was untested. Might see some real freaks then if there were no holds on what could be used.

He confessed? What after 10 years of denial, lying, sueing people, wrecking careers and being proven without a doubt he done it? WOW! What a stand up guy.

BRB, donating to charity to make me good. Wait, what? Sounds like religion..

Oh and you realise his 'confession' would have fetched him millions in the process?

Cycling has always been notorious for doping...if you can find anyone at the top who hasn't participated in "performance enhancement", you may just be in line for discovery of the century.

Armstrong is a legend, regardless, in my opinion.

He has inspired millions of people to focus on their goals, to overcome adversity and be brave, no matter the odds.

Had all the riders in this sport chosen not to take performance enhancing drugs, chances are he wouldn't have done what he did.

And he would have still been a champion because he is an absolutely amazing athlete...!
