soft suit

Hi,after squatting today I realised how much I hate squatting in shorts(stubbies). They f**k up my range of motion unless I pull the right up like Steve urkle  .So my question is can a novice lifter use a soft suit in a comp?I might add I'm not one that walks round with there pants round there ass so I'm not squatting like that :naughty: If I can I'd rather lift in a soft suit so will look at getting one If I can lift in it.Thanks in advance for any help :)

Most definitely you can use a soft suit in competitions, in fact many comps (except novice comps) REQUIRE a soft suit. So, comps like the Central District Champs, Powerhouse Open and so on all require soft suits.

From my experience, the suits are great, no restrictions on movement. Plus, not too expensive.

Thanks, good to know,I'm pretty sure I will use it in more than 1 meet. Now just have to find some.

Get better shorts...

Anything made of polyester should be fine as it doesn't bind to the skin and stretches fairly well. I've also had good success with CCC rugby shorts and Kooga rugby shorts.

You certainly can train in a soft suit, but if you're gonna go that way why not just get a few pairs of Skins shorts?

I would use a suit to compete, not to train in.

All my shorts are ccc rugby shorts but 100% cotton, going into the hole is the problem as they do feel grabby,so will look at some polyester style ones so there isnt as much friction, will keep well clear of cycle pants like skins etc to train.Super gay :D

Yeah the 100% cotton ones are quite heavy and 'grabby.' Polyester is definitely the way to go, they're slightly more expensive ($10 or so more) but it's well worth it. Basketball shorts are also another option.
