Treadmills - still think they're good for you ?

Treadmills aren't that bad. Everyone likes to be extreme but lets face it the treadmill pulls our legs along taking out some hammy and posterior involvement but.... unless you have a serious imbalance etc it will never be an issue. Dunno about them doing more work I mean in terms of electrical out put and physics I.e a working motor running a belt... then they do a fair bit of work but I've never had a treadmill that plugs itself into my nervous system to make my legs move.

Wanna know whats worse?? Pounding our joints on concrete footpaths. But even thats not too much of a worry if you have the right footware and no major biomechanical issues.

Comes back to your goals, doesn't it?

If you're training to compete in running or cycling events, there is no way you can train solely on a treadmill or stationary bike. You need to do the hard yards in the type of environment you'll be competing in.

If you're not training for these types of events, of course a treadmill or stationary bike can be adequate.

Horses for courses...
