Justworkout is really good. A bit pricy but they usually have good deals like this month is I think no joining fee and 1 free month , Wouldn't touch Jetts.. from what I hear they don't even have proper squat racks, barbells etc.. correct me on this if i'm wrong. Club physical also look good. Was tempted to join up as the gym looks like the gyms they have in America how its so big with heaps of machines and stuff haha

Depends what you're after, and where you are based.

Club Physical Albany is huge. They've just finished building it, and there's all sorts of extra stuff you don't find at most gyms - boxing cages, climbing wall (I think), etc. The machines are quite old, but I believe there are plans to replace them.

I've heard good things about the Millenium Gym, but never been there. A lot of top athletes train there.

Or for a smaller 24-hour gym, check out Burn Fitness. Search this forum - I remember someone did a very good review of them.

Speaking of Millenium, my friend who goes there told me today that they put up a sign saying 'Don't drop the weights, if you can lift it you can put it down' .. Getting pretty picky about people dropping weights haha

Haven't noticed a climbing wall, but yes, the place is pretty huge. I find there's enough weights in the free weight area as well and the circuit machines are nicely separated from the free weight/other machines area.

Lots of cardio things as well (never go there) and then the boxing cage as Pseudonym stated. I also understand that they are going to expand it even more, it would be freakish huge then. They still have a big area that is not used yet as far as I understand.

I think I pay $22 per week or something along those lines if you are looking for $'s.

I wouldnt commit to anything long term .... wolfs gym is expanding into nshore. Will leave most other gyms for dead from a resistance point of view based on what i have been hearing.

Good machines, cheap, 24/7

Owners nice enough but fussy, no chalk, can't drop weights, machines too close together last time I was there I couldn't put the plates away after finishing without bending my back awkwardly holding a 20

It's good but I think it's abit overrated.

Just checked out Justworkout Forrest Hill. I ask the guy showing me around at the end. Do you mind if I take my shoes off to do squats/deadlifts?

His reply = No it is dangerous and you shouldn't need to if your form is correct!

My response = bertstare.jpg

I was always told compression in the heel was bad for squatting and dead lifting?

His response = I can show you the correct way to do it so that it doesn't matter

:banging:

Haha, Some of the trainers there don't mind if you squat barefoot. I've seen some people do it. Just wouldn't do it during peak hours when its busy and people might tell you off
