Bit short of money this week and ran out of whey so i went looking round for a cheap little tub of protein too get me through the week, seen protein isolate 3lb for $39 and 57 servings so i bought it just got home and read the label and found out it is wheat protein isolate so I'm guessing it is not as complete a source of protein as whey??? because i know if protein was this cheap and good quality I surely would have heard of it on here, I have Googled it and looked on here but only getting drips and drabs of information so i thought id ask the experts on here and see what they have too say.

A quick look showed this at livestrong:

Bodybuilders rate protein by two factors, biological value, or BV, and protein digestibility corrected amino acids score, or PDCAAS. Wheat protein is not considered a high-quality protein due to limited amounts of the amino acid lysine needed for muscle growth and repair. Animal proteins like whey score higher, with the BV for whey rating 100 on of a scale of zero to 100, compared to wheat at 54.

Does the packaging have the amino acid breakdown? That would be quite helpful.

Better to go halves in something good with a mate if you need it. A tray of eggs might be a better solution too.

Dude I think you must have gotten lost in the baking section - wheat protein isolate is normally used for baking, though some manufacturers add hydrolyzed wheat protein to powders due to it's high glutamine content. Looks like Ultimate nutrition does a wheat protein isolate, maybe you got some of that?

If it is the Ultimate Wheat protein here's the AA break down for it per serve - as with all plant based proteins its low in sulphur containing aminos (should be good on the guts), really high in glutamine, and a reasonable amount of BCAA's and really high in proline which is kinda interesting.

-Leucine 1502 mg

L-Isoleucine 690 mg

L-Valine 742 mg

L-Lysine 342 mg

L-Threonine 506 mg

L-Methionine 276 mg

L-Phenylalanine 1112 mg

L-Tryptophan 384 mg

L-Arginine 620 mg

L-Aspartic Acid 700 mg

L-Cystine 554 mg

L-Alanine 530 mg

L-Glutamic Acid /L-Glutamine 6460 mg

L-Glycine 808 mg

L-Histidine 398 mg

L-Proline 2720 mg

L-Serine 1028 mg

L-Tyrosine 628 mg

Yep its the ultimate nutrition one and the amino acid breakdown is exactly the same as above so I'm wandering what amino acids and bcaas are missing from this particular type of protein and what the overall difference will be replacing my whey with this for the next two weeks?

TWO WEEKS - on this!!! Don't do it, You'll fade away into nothingness if you continue to use this instead of whey. Your muscles will atrophy and you'll become really weak and small and look like 2guns used to look....

..but seriously though the top three aminos in the chart are the BCAAs

Leucine 1502 mg

L-Isoleucine 690 mg

L-Valine 742 mg

and there are no aminos missing it's just a bit light on Methionine, Lysine, Tryptophan and Histidine.

You'll be sweet as, though you may start liking vegetables more than steak...
