How do you guys design/structure your workouts?

first of all gr8 site by the way...lots of good bodybuilders and knowledge as compared to other sites (bbing.com misc lol). Anyway having recently got on top of my nutriton over the last 2 months i want to improve my training. Mostly because the numbers on my lifts arent that great.

Stats: 5'9 85.4kg

Deadlift= 180kg x 2

Squat= 140kg x 5

Barbell Benchpress :( = 100kg x2

These weights all include the barbell as 20kg btw.

Since i started training a year and a half ago my main method of training has simply been to go into the gym and lift as heavy as i can for 6-10 reps, (or higher reps ofc on isolation mvments).

To get to the point i want to know how you guys structure your workouts? i.e do you follow some sort of periodization cycle? or change rep ranges every couple weeks? just looking for idea on how to structure training none of these fad workouts.

Cheers guys sorry for the novel!

Youll get 100 answers from 100 lifters but honestly mate take the time to experiment as to what works for your body type. Try different methods and record any gains so you know for sure.

agree ^

There are hundreds of ways to make the body grow and trying many of them is good for growth anyway.

Bodybuilder...?

Unlike sports you can't train to be a decent bodybuilder in 3 or 6mths. Training can reflect that and you can experiment with different things over the years. You will find that you can put on size with heavy weights and low reps and with medium weights and high reps.

A training plan?

Just plan to train (sounds like you are already)

Numbers?

When you wanna get strong hit up some of the experienced PLer's on this site to recommend a good strength program (Wendler's 5/3/1 looks good for BBers).

To get to the point...?

Your question is what do we do re training plans. See above, everyone does it differently.

I seem to follow or include a system in my training (low rep heavy weights, high volume light weights, strength training, GVT, yoga) for a couple of months and then try something different.

The one thing I recommend is always focus on weak bodyparts. It's ok to be small and on the journey to being big but there's no need to look average until you get there...symmetry at any size looks awesome! is what I meant to say.

best of luck :lol:

Good advice. It means you always have a specific goal to work towards, too. "Getting big" is fine, but it's more a long-term goal and easy to feel like you're not making progress. "Growing my lagging triceps" gives you something specific, and breaks it into manageable chunks.
