Really big congratulations in order for Central Districts lifter Hayden Pritchard (HJP on these boards) for winning 3 golds and a silver in the 83kg Open Mens division at the IPF Oceanias in Sydney. Golds were for Overall (total of 627.5kg), Squat (225kg), Bench (142.5kg), and the silver was for his deadlift (260kg).

Huge result for Hayden, I know he's worked long and hard in focusing and training for the comp, as well as a lot of energy put into fundraising and nutrition, great to see it all come together for him on the day

Enjoy a couple of beers HJP, and the rest of us can support the remaining NZ lifters to come this weekend

Reminder of the livestream address, it is:

HJP's training partner Jono Parsons (Manawatu Monster on these boards) will be on tomorrow night @ 8pm ish in the 120kg Junior class. More details on the other lifters lifting this weekend can be found in HJP's thread here.

Great write-up D, and yes, truly awesome work by Hayden. His battle with Amir was epic.

The livestream also captured other Kiwis in action including Oceania/ Commonwealth records for Stephen King, and an all-Kiwi podium in the M2 category with Kiwis first, second and third.

Some awesome work by other lifters, including folk from Niue, Nauru and New Caledonia.

Tomorrow promises to be just as good, with Doug Mienie in M4, a really nice guy and a great competitor, together with Jono and others, and then Sunday's the clash of the titans.

I can't recall off-hand the totals, but the M2 was:

1. Stephen King

2. Jamie Kett

3. John Rivers.

The live-stream commentator mentioned that Stephen was going for Oceania and CW records quite a lot... but I can't recall whether he succeeded in all three lifts or not.

Was a good day for you HJP - was great watching you lift live. You looked strong

Jono did well - not sure on numbers but he placed 2nd in the 120kg juniors and pulled 310kg - which is officially the heaviest a NZ Junior has deadlifted ever. A great lifter and one to watch for the future

I had an ok day - 322.5/182.5/290 - 795kg (5kg PB) but placed 4th overall in a world class field - I was a bit off from the podium but just missed out on individual medals in the squat and deadlift. More work to be done

Not sure when the full results will be out.

Great effort Danny

Jono went 277.5/170(I think?)/310 - pretty sure it was 757.5 he finished on. Massive total for a 120 Junior  Heck, just a massive total!

Full results will probably be out later this week, maybe even earlier next week I'd imagine, quite a few lifters to get through.

Yep, Jono was 277.5, 170, 310... absolutely awesome.

There were some great sights, like an all-Kiwi podium for the M2/ U83, with Steve King, Jamie Kett and John Rivers 1,2 and 3.

I will be interested to hear how Delwyn got on, and Doug Mienie and the other Kiwis... or even how team NZ ranked ?

Sorry TFB I am not sure of all the results, I am pretty sure Delwyn won her class though. Most of the kiwi's did pretty well, but the Aussies were the winning nation (obviously had a lot more entries than us). Nauru had a fairly big team an did well also, but not sure of each teams final placing, just got told Aussie won.

Hopefully a full list of results is up soon.
