Drizzt, are you going to give this a go? You could do some serious damage on squats, couldn't you?

Probably not, going into an equipped phase shortly, won't have the time or energy to work extra wrapped reps into the prog. SG's squats are looking hard to beat in any case  Can't wait to see what Danny puts up too!

Good efforts there TLG. Mirin 2.5 kg weight gain over the week too, must be doing something right ;)

So now we have 2 fully qualified lifters in the Powerlifters category. After a quick count up we have Red Machine on 317.4 Wilks Points and TomleeGolf slightly ahead on 321.8 Wills points. There really is nothing in it. A few kilos more on any if Red Machines lifts would push him ahead again. Great tight race there \:D/

I know we still have 5 weeks till the comp cutoff date but if like to see more lifts posted up guys. There's still over a dozen lifters who are registered but yet to post something. Get videoing and throw it up 8)

nice work....but

bit of rackpull when you jack up the plates like that TLG

have pulled a 260kg in training with 1" jacked up but not able to lift off the floor, so I know it assists.

would fail this or set a height limit on jacking up the plates like that SG

ooooo I see now. lol. have to agree with the the weights jacked up I can get a big carry over, doesn't look like much in the vid, good set man, but a deadlifts a deadlift. Im sure your legs are strong enough that you can pull more from the floor anyway :) good lifts tgl

Oh I didn't notice that when I watched first time. I just thought the mat was the same height all the way through with more rubber where the plates sit. I know some gyms insist on using those mats as it reduces wear on the ground and stpps the floor shaking (esp gyms on second storeys), but you are correct Android, it can assist in the lift so that entry is disallowed TLG.

Have another crack (maybe heavier) and repost :)

I guess I'm out as well then. The plates my current gym uses are much smaller than standard competiton size plates, they measure a 39cm diameter vs 45cm standard. So I've got 18mm of MDF + the gyms rubber mats for deadlifting on.

Lets talk about it then. I don't really see it as being a big issue using the mats and essentially you are lifting from floor height Phedder.

Thoughts?

I think with the rubber it makes it maybe 1cm higher, although compression may even that out. I'm happy to just lift off of the MDF sheets for the comp, but I don't really think 1cm or so either way would make a heck of a difference. Hard to tell from Toms vid, but looks like sweet F all really.

Disqualifying his lift just doesn't seem in line with the spirit of the competition. I mean how strict are we being with depth on squats, chest bounce on bench etc? A centimetre higher or lower, especially if it's put in place by the gym just doesn't seem like a big deal to me? Your call overall of course, but I'm keen to just see some good weights lifted

I don't care personally, it doesn't make any difference to me as I'm strong off the floor. I am going to try again with heavier weight and this time, I'll stand on a rubber mat so that I am equal height with the plates and this way I won't get in trouble.

I would allow it for other people as well, as long as it's obvious that it's not to gain an advantage.

Strong squats SUAS, I'm going to let my back recover and sometime in the next few weeks, I'll give 200 a go

I was just going with the general consensus. Personally I think it adds hardly anything, and youre right, its gym lifts not Strict PL meet. i will allow it to stay. Tom is good for even heavier though so I doubt that will be the last deads we see from him in this comp.
