Can someone recommend some really good Pre and Post supplements.

At present im taking Inner Armour micronized creatine (1tea spoon) and crossfire protein powder (1 1/2 scoops) pre workout and crossfire (1 1/2 scoops) alone post workout. Results after 14+ weeks have been ok but the advice of someone whose been doing this for years would be appreciated.

I have red alot about this "Jack3d" being an excellent pre workout supplement. Would like to know your thoughts.

Im also taking fish oil and vitamin c pills each day. Really need a good multi-V if someone can recommend one.

Cheers all

I've found pre-workouts ok- as long as you don't expect the world from them (i.e. don't believe the hype). For example, a friend gave me the rest of his tub of Curse (read the marketing blurb on Shotgun, hilarious) and it gets me moving in the morning as I train at 5am. This is good for me as I HATE the taste of coffee. However, if you can stomach a strong coffee then I agree with jimmybro1- don't waste your money on a pre workout.

I would also avoid spending money on pre work out supps which are very expensive to buy just find other options for pre training like what I before training just have 600ml glass of milk or coffee which is more cheaper then spending money on pre work out supp made by any brand that is out there plus your wallet will thank you for it as well

Thanks lads.

Milk pre workout is really not that bad. The only time i feel sick after having milk is if i do hill sprints then i can feel it working its way back up - yuck!

So straight coffee you reckon? I might give that a try and see how it goes before looking at other options.

Appreciate your advice guys

Definitely straight coffee, 1 teaspoon of instant coffee is about 58 mg of caffeine so take 3 teaspoons and you should be away. I prefer dark before workout seems to work better not sure why though.

Are there any good pre workout supps on the market anymore??

got about 3 sccoops of 1MR left and no more then 10 of jack3d

I just started using Mesomorph and find it pretty good.

Like the NZ version of 1MR it relies heavily on caffeine so at 300mg don't take it too late in the evening is my best advice.

With the NZ dollar above US .80c it's always cheaper to shop overseas now if you can plan ahead by 2 weeks.

BB.com postage to NZ has dropped to below U.S $7 for 3 bottles of pre-workout supps.

Yeah I brought 4 box's of VPX Zero Impact bars for $5-6 shipping and it arrived within 2 weeks!

So much cheaper buying from America, a box of 12 was only $25 US too!

Not sure how old you are but if still young dont waste your money on pre-workout caffeine crap.

You should be able to get in and out of a gym and do a workout without it.

We grew up with the pretty pictures and overhyped crap years ago and people are still sucked in by it.

Supplementation of this nature comes a long and lonely last behind hard training, good diet and proper rest and recuperation.

The power of advertising and gullible youth tends to throw supplementation up a few rungs of the ladder.

I see plenty of clowns pissing their money away on this crap and shake my head in disbelief

Take the advice above and buy some good Havana coffee.

all these guys talking about coffee and all that, they are on to it! when i started out, a more experienced friend was saying the same and i ignored him.. used pwos for ages but last couple weeks i ran out so finally tried out coffee.

feel really stupid for ignoring it all this time & surprised at how good it works for something so cheap, at the moment 1 tsp coffee + half cup water + 3 tsp sugar works same as a scoop of my old DMAA based. will be doing this and saving money while still getting a nice boost in the gym. if you're the kind of person who drinks energy drinks and all that stuff all day then it might not work as well for you but anyway, give it a go and see, nothing to lose and much money to save :P

of course caffeine works.

It was on the list of banned substances by WADA before 2004 for Olympic athletes. Can remember pre-Internet reading a nutrition book (it's a thing made of paper, has a ....nvm) and it said 7 cups of coffee an hour before a race would put you over the limit.

They still test for peak plasma levels of athletes and monitor it's use apparently, so of course it increases performance!

Caffeine spares glycogen. Some believe it utilizes fat more readily after 15 minutes of exercise, others are undecided.

Not feeling the effects of caffeive is normal in regular users. You get de-sensitized to it's effects pretty quickly.

I don't know but I would imagine it's still working it's magic but you just get used to the "feeling". It was used centuries ago to keep people working harder with less food I think, so I imagine they didn't cycle their caffeine LOL.
