Alcohol is empty calories. It doesn't have any nutrients, but does have a caloric value of 7 calories per gram. In just one shot (1.5oz) of 80 proof vodka there's nearly 100 calories. For those of you trying to lose fat, forget it if you are drinking. Not only will the high calorie content of alcohol have a negative effect on your total calorie intake, but it also slows down your metabolism

ALCOHOL LOWERS TESTOSTERONE AND INCREASES ESTROGEN!

Thing I notice the most when ditching the booze for a decent period is the fat loss is a lot easier. Not just because I've ditched the calories of the alcohol itself (minimized by drinking spirits with sugar free mixers) but the reduced amount of chips and pizza I end up stuffing down my face too :)

It will affect your size and strength gains too though (actual "drinking" as opposed to the odd beer or wine), esp if you are natty

i found my recovery was shit when i was drinking heaps. i was training same muscle groups every 4 days and in 4 days of getting wasted every day or night my bench went from 140x4 to 140x2..basically it seemed like i hadnt recovered at all from my last training session.

Definitley noticed a big difference when i stopped drinking to get drunk, just having one or two every few weeks keeps me happy.

It was a lot easier to cut and stick to a diet and my energy levels are on a whole new level, but i cant say i put on a huge amount of new muscle or strength gains. I guess it comes down to how dedicated you are and if you are chasing that extra 10% from yourself or if you're happy with where your at

yeah moderations allgd.

i used to get pissed most weekends, for weightloss it was like 2 steps forward during the week, then 1 step back on the weekend so i stopped altogether.

nothing wrong with a few once in a while tho imo, i just cant leave it at the few so dont bother at all
