Grant has provided cctv video evidence to the police of Josh coming into his shop, buying some run of the mill pre workout powder and protein powder then leaving.

The young guy obviously had an undiagnosed heart issue which caused it to fail. Whether or not the heart attack was caused by the pre workout, the intensity of his training or something else is unknown at this stage.

It is unfair the media is splashing Grant and his perfectly legitimate supplement business all over the papers and tv and showing him in a negative light when he just sold the NZDA approved product to the customer. If someone dies from lung cancer do we see the local dairy owner vilified because he sold the deceased cigarettes every day for 30 years?

It is very unfair by the media on giving Grant a hard time about this .When Grant has given the police CCTV footage of Josh walking into his shop and pre workout and protein then leaving.I know Grant he is a nice guy.One thing about this the media giving the sport a hard time. When someone dies of lung cancer from smoking for the past 30 years or liver cancer from drinking to much beer and wine etc for the same number of years you dont see the media ripping into the person who owns the dairy or when a person who has been drinking lots at the same bar or pub dies while drinking. One thing I do feel for the members or gym staff of Les Mills Hamilton when they saw Josh die while he was training and for the people who had to do CPR on Josh.I also agree with what Soundsgood said which I thought was well said.

this sort of reporting does my fucken head in.

mentioning he has been dieting and lost a lot of weight like that may be a contributor.

kid was probably healthier than most obese kiwis, and unfortunately probably had a heart condition.

"Waikato police spokesman Andrew McAlley said post mortem results were in, but investigators were now awaiting toxicology results - which could take several months - before they would decide how they were treating the investigation."

wtf is this supposed to mean, suggesting someone who sold him a legal product may be responsible?

what about piss store owners that sell to drink drivers

Exactly did he buy a full sealed container or did he buy a serving of powder out of an opened container?

If he bought a serving of it then personally I think there is every right to be an investigation. I don't expect anything will come of it but still you have to rule everything out... Ppl are just doing there jobs to keep the family happy and find out the cause.

Media gonna media, get over it brahs.

Fair call bro, but is there any need to bring up the steroid question to a blatant steroid user when talking about the deceased who is obviously isnt

Perhaps we are just being a little too sensitive??

The story was factual, rounded and of interest to the general public.

The fact that the pre work out and protein powder was supplied loose and un packaged -ie 2 scoops of protein powder does and should rate further investigation.

I'm not knocking Grant, don't know him or his outlet so have no axe to grind.

End of day a young man died and it rates investigation.

What any one of us would expect if it happened to us or our loved ones.

Pre Workouts in resonsible doses shouldnt cause this, but it will take an investigation to show if this poor kid had any un diagnosed coronary problems. Also his body may have been under quite a bit of stress from losing alot of weight/dieting as the article states. Toxicology might show if he had ingested any other thermos and the amounts depending on how soon the toxicology report and autopsy was conducted after the event. Potentially the family might never know?

Dehydration and accute overdosing of stimulants could potentially put a person at more risk but generally an otheriwse healthy young adult would generally experience a rapid racing heart beat and anxiety/tremors etc well before a coronary event.

One thing I learnt from my time in the industry is that gyms should if possible have a defribulator and staff shown how to use it which can save lives. A gym Les Mills size probably has one but sometimes even this cant help.

Very sad situation for this poor young guy and his family and friends.

Also very tough on Grant and Sesas business, its prudent for authorities to follow due process but one serving of pre workout cant be to blame for this an dhopefully he doesnt get implicated or made a scape goat as a result as you just dont know if this poor kid had taken anything else before or after seeing Grant.

That's just the media they bring up irrelevant topics that are related to the person but not directly related to the situation. To make the story more interesting or 'juicy'... LOL.
