Catabolic state

Is it possible to achieve a catabolic state if you are comsuming a surplus of food above your maintenance macros/micros and calories AND regardless if you are taking prednisone which is said to put you in a catabolic state?

prednisone is a glucocorticoid steroid used to treat diseases and injuries.

Not an anabolic steroid.

Yes it is possible but would only be of concern in high doses or for extended amounts of time. Due to the nature of the glucocorticoid steroid action, excess calories could be stored primarily as fat while some muscle catabolism takes place. However, if your macros are good and you are able to keep lifting, and the dose isn't too high/long and you taper down as early as feasible you should be OK. If you are on gear (and training/eating well) then any catabolic effects would probably be well superceded by the juice

I'm on 60mg for 8 days then probably be on 40mg then slowly tapering down. Probably by 5mg every 7 days. But been on 60-30mg for a month now already though.

You think i can still make gains at these doses? Or at least maintain the muscle I have? I think maybe ill be on it for atleast 1month maybe 1.5 months more and 2-3months all up TOTAL I would be on it.

Not taking any other stuff

you dont need to worry about prednisone affecting your gains lol its not that strong

maybe if you were taking 100mg a day for a year you might lose some muscle...

its a good anti-inflammatory at doses 30mg and above

I disagree sorry. The sides vs lean weight gain are considerable. If you are on it for any length of time it is sometimes quite hard to come off without regression. It should only be used as a emergency medication but seems that doctors will prescribe it more & more to treat symptomatic disease.
